The Blood of Dawnwalker: Wait for Lunka’s Answer Objective Explained

How to make Lunka's reply arrive, where the letter lands in your inventory, and what it costs you in time.

How to make Lunka’s reply arrive, where the letter lands in your inventory, and what it costs you in time.

“Wait for Lunka’s answer” is one of the stranger objectives in The Blood of Dawnwalker, because it asks you to do nothing at all. There is no marker to chase and no enemy to kill. The sanzhani carry Coen’s letter to his sister and bring back her reply, but only after enough time has passed in the valley — and time in this game is a resource you spend, not one that quietly ticks along in the background.

Quick answer: Push the clock forward a full in-game day using the Wait option at any shrine, then open your inventory, switch to the Quest Items tab, and read the letter that appears there.

How the “Wait for Lunka’s answer” objective is triggered

The whole exchange runs through the Sanzhani Tsarina at the Yawning Burrow, which you first reach during the Good Home quest. She agrees to ferry messages to Lunka, but each letter has a price. Every time you solve a problem for one of the sanzhani scattered around Vale Sangora, you earn the right to send one more message.

So the sequence is always the same. Help a sanzhani, return to the Tsarina, choose what Coen wants to ask, and the quest flips to a waiting objective. That waiting objective is the game telling you the letter is in transit and nothing else is required from you except the passage of time.

How to wait for Lunka’s letter at a shrine

Shrines are the small stone markers dotted through the forests and settlements, and they are the only reliable way to skip ahead. Interacting with one opens a menu with Perks, Fast Travel, Storage, and Wait.

Open your map and pick the nearest shrine to your current position. Any shrine works, so there is no reason to backtrack across the valley for a specific one.
Walk up to the shrine and interact with it, then select Wait from the list of options. Storage and Perks sit in the same menu, so make sure you have highlighted the right entry.
Drag the slider to the next phase of the day and confirm. The screen cuts to a short transition — a moon climbing over the fog, if you are pushing through to Moonrise — and the game autosaves on the other side.

Watch the quest tracker as control returns to you. When the delivery lands, the Letters to Lunka entry updates on screen and Coen reacts out loud with a line about what he has just been handed.

Note: a full day is the benchmark for a reply, and the Wait slider only moves you forward in chunks. If the objective has not changed after one skip, use the shrine again rather than assuming the quest has broken.

Where to find and read Lunka’s answer

The letter does not open on its own. Once the objective changes to “Read Lunka’s letter,” open your inventory and switch to the Quest Items tab — the delivered notes live there, not with your books or consumables. Select the letter and read it to close out that leg of the quest.

You can also confirm the state of things from the Journal, where the Letters to Lunka entry lists the current objective. If it still reads as a waiting objective, no letter has arrived yet and there is nothing in your inventory to open.

All five letter subjects and their replies

Each message you send is tied to a specific topic Coen picks in conversation with the Tsarina, and each one comes back as its own note. The waiting objective is worded slightly differently depending on what you asked, which is the easiest way to tell which reply you are still owed.

All five have to be read for the quest to wrap up on the exchange path. Leaving letters unopened in the Quest Items tab leaves the questline hanging.

Why Lunka’s answer might not show up

  • Not enough time has passed. A reply needs roughly a day, and simply walking around rarely burns that much of the clock.
  • You helped a sanzhani but never went back to the Sanzhani Tsarina to actually dictate the letter. The reply cannot arrive if nothing was sent.
  • You are searching the wrong inventory tab. Letters are filed under Quest Items.
  • You have run out of sanzhani to help. Only five letters exist, one per favour completed.

What helping every sanzhani gives you back

Waiting costs you hours you may want to spend elsewhere, and that is the real tension in this questline. The payoff is that once you have helped all five sanzhani, the Sanzhani Tsarina turns back time as a reward, adding an extra day before Brencis’s Coronation. In practice, that hands back more than the letters cost you.

You can also hand the tasks in one at a time or bank them and report everything at once. Either way, once a letter is read you are free to drop back into whatever you were doing — including the wider push to rescue your family — and let the next reply catch up with you at the following shrine.

Skipping the exchange entirely is a valid choice too. Coen can decide that keeping his family alive matters more than trading notes, and the questline closes out on that footing instead — with the letters left unsent and the conversation postponed until Brencis is dealt with.
