The Finals Update 10.9.0: What's new in the May 28 patch

The Finals rolled out Update 10.9.0 on May 28, 2026 across PC and consoles, where it downloads as version 1.000.142. The patch added the returning Risk & Reward event, a new Event Pass, fresh store and Twitch Drop cosmetics, two gadget balance tweaks, and a long run of bug fixes. A server-side hotfix followed shortly after the client update went live.

Quick answer: Update 10.9.0 brings Risk & Reward to Team Deathmatch, adds the ALFA ACTA Safehouse Standard Event Pass, shortens the Breach Drill cooldown, lengthens the Vanishing Bomb cooldown, and ships dozens of fixes for audio, cosmetics, maps, UI, and stability.

🎮
Console players will see this as The Finals update 1.000.142. The version number on the in-game patch notes is 10.9.0.

Risk & Reward returns in Team Deathmatch

The World Tour event Risk & Reward is back, this time built into Team Deathmatch. Your payout scales with the weapon and gadget you bring, so picking less common loadouts earns extra cash. The reward swing can decide a close match, which encourages experimenting with gear you might normally avoid.

Safehouse Standard Event Pass

ALFA ACTA's Safehouse Standard Event Pass headlines the cosmetic content with 16 items. It includes weaponry fitted with a Trespassers Rejected counter and the Deadbolt Directive outfit, themed after Loretta "Deadbolt" McJohnson. The pass leans into the company's home-defense branding seen on the Nuclear Family Channel.

Data Crusader DLC and store set

The Data Crusader DLC adds a darksteel-themed cosmetic bundle and includes 2,400 Multibucks with the purchase. The store also restocked with the Cut To The Bone Set, a skeletal-themed collection built around a returned-from-the-grave Contestant identity.

Stream Tangerine Twitch Drops

The Stream Tangerine Set returned as a Twitch Drops reward. Watch any creator playing The Finals with Drops enabled to earn the skins for free. The drops are available until June 11, 2026, with full terms posted on Twitch.

Open to Join party setting

The party invite system was reworked. The old "Open to Friends" option is now "Open to Join," controlled by a single On/Off toggle, and it ships off by default. Any party member can now send invites, so this is no longer limited to the party leader.

With the toggle off, your party stays invite-only. With it on, friends of any party member can join you. If your Embark ID is linked to Discord, players from your Discord servers can also see you play and may be able to join, so check your Discord and server settings to match your preferred privacy.

Balance changes

Only two gadgets changed in this patch, both through cooldown adjustments. The Breach Drill now refreshes faster to make it a more attractive pick for Medium players. The Vanishing Bomb takes longer to recharge, a continued effort to reduce how much invisibility uptime Light players can get without running the Cloaking Device.

Breach DrillCooldown 20s → 15sBuff

Bug fixes by category

The bulk of Update 10.9.0 is bug fixing across animation, audio, cosmetics, gadgets, maps, performance, stability, and UI. The most impactful entries fix gameplay reliability, missing sounds, and crashes.

Gameplay and gadget fixes include Vaults in Cashbox Challenges now unlocking immediately, a rare case where weapons could fail to fire after equipping an item, the Hover Pad no longer being destroyed instantly by a Cash Box or Cashout Station, and the Hover Pad no longer staying stuck underground after clipping through the floor. Shockwave no longer collides with the Riot Shield mid-movement in a way that blocked the throw.

Audio fixes restore the defib-respawn sound, the respawn-available cue when a credit is usable, and a missing sound when destroying a Zipline anchor, while addressing overlapping sounds during Instant Replays and stuck weapon-skin music in the menu. Performance work improved server stability during heavy destruction and reduced game startup time on Xbox Series X|S.

Map fixes cover Las Vegas Stadium (floating ladder, decal materials, a skewed ENGIMO decal, OSPUZE decal scale), NOZOMI/CITADEL (a stuck spot under the water slide), Seoul, Kyoto, and Bernal, plus a Starlight Hollow Spectator out-of-bounds case in Private Matches. Stability fixes resolve a texture-streaming crash and a crash when viewing the ARN-220 item screen with a randomized skin.

On the UI side, fixes include clearer rating stars on the Personal Performance screen, more responsive loading screens, in-game video volume now following the SFX Volume setting, and a correction to the World Tour rank-up screen showing the wrong title, such as displaying Silver 1 instead of Emerald 1.

If you want to verify the update applied, the in-game patch notes label it Update 10.9.0 and the console download reads as 1.000.142. Because a server-side hotfix shipped alongside the client patch, some fixes took effect without a separate download, so the changes above represent the full state of the game after both went live.
