The First Descendant Season 4: Best Farms for Transcendent Weapons and XP

Where Karel's Mothership, Onslaught, Trials, and Axion Plains pay out best for Quality 400 rolls, Ancestor Modules, and fast levels.

Where Karel’s Mothership, Onslaught, Trials, and Axion Plains pay out best for Quality 400 rolls, Ancestor Modules, and fast levels.

Season 4 Episode 1 reset the pecking order of farms in The First Descendant. Transcendent Weapons replaced Ultimate Weapons at the top of the gear ladder, Karel’s Mothership arrived as a mega dungeon with the fattest single drop chance in the game, and the roguelite Trials mode added a second high-roll route. Everything else — Ancestor Modules, catalysts, Kuiper, gold — still comes from a short list of repeatable activities that are worth knowing by name.

Quick answer: Run Karel’s Mothership for the highest Transcendent Weapon chance (14.5% per clear), Onslaught for volume at 7.11% per run, Wall Crasher and Bounty Operations for Ancestor Modules, and the Albion Resource Defense and Kuiper Mine Blockade Special Operations to hit Level 40 fast.

Base Quality is what makes Transcendent Weapon farming pay off

Every Transcendent Weapon rolls a Quality value from 1 to 400, split into four ranges (1–100, 101–200, 201–300, 301–400). Crossing into a new range is a step change in performance rather than a smooth climb, so 101, 201, and 301 are the numbers that matter.

Base Quality is the guaranteed floor applied to every weapon you pick up, and it rises each time you acquire one. It caps at 400. That single rule decides your early strategy: quantity beats quality until the floor is maxed, because a junk roll from a two-and-a-half-minute clear still pushes the floor up for the next drop.

Four Infiltration Operations hand you a free weapon on first clear at Normal difficulty — Unknown Laboratory at Quality 25, The Chapel at 50, Bio-Lab at 75, and Heart of the Fortress at 100. Buying Transcendent Weapon Boxes from Deslin also raises Base Quality, so box purchases count as progress rather than a side spend.

Note: a monster kill can very rarely drop a weapon above the mission’s listed ceiling, so low-tier content is never a hard cap on what you can see.

Best Transcendent Weapon farms by drop chance

The percentages below are mission completion reward chances. Monsters inside those same missions roll separately on top.

ActivityQuality rangeChance
Karel’s Mothership – Hard271–40014.5%
Karel’s Mothership – Normal251–40014.5%
Trials – Rounds 3 and 4281–40010% per round
Trials – Rounds 1 and 2271–40010% per round
Onslaught – Stages 1 to 4Rising floor, up to 4007.11%
Assumed Bridge Zone (Normal / Hard)1–150 / 101–2506.92%
Sealed Residential District201–3506.69%
Forbidden Sanctuary251–4005.64%
Bastion of Immortality251–4005.06%
Medium-Sized Facility Zone – Hard251–4004.92%

All four Onslaught stages share the same 7.11% chance, and every stage can roll up to 400. The only thing a higher stage buys you is a higher minimum, so pick the stage you can clear quickly and stay there. Stage 1 clears in roughly two and a half minutes, which makes it the best engine for raising Base Quality.

Karel’s Mothership is the longest run of the three endgame options, so many players clear it once a week for Merit Tokens and spend the rest of their time on Trials or Onslaught. Trials are the outlier structurally — each completed round rolls its own 10%, so a full four-round run gives four separate chances.

Drop boosts stack on top of all of this. Battle Pass Premium grants a Transcendent Weapon acquisition boost that scales from 5% at level 1 to 20% at level 80, and the in-game shop sells separate 30% boosts in one-hour, three-hour, and ten-hour blocks.

Unlocking Karel’s Mothership and Trials

Clear the Season 4 Episode 1 story through the Main Quest And, Tomorrow. That opens Karel’s Mothership on Normal, which you can launch from the Map or through the Tactical Transport Control NPC in Albion.
Finish Normal once to unlock Hard. Starting a public operation on Hard requires 81,580 Arche Activity, but private operations ignore the threshold entirely, so a premade squad can run it underlevelled.
For Trials, reach Hard difficulty via the Main Quest The Stance of the Magisters, then use the Trials icon on the Map. Public operations need 83,980 Arche Activity; private operations bypass the check.

Ancestor Module farms

Ancestor Modules are tied to individual Descendants and roll their stats at random, which is why a good one is such a large damage swing. They are also the tightest-supply item in the season, so the reliable sources matter far more than the random ones.

Bounty Operations are the one guaranteed route. You feed Vulgus Bio Data Chips, farmed mainly from Onslaught, into the Sync Loot pools to pull modules and Superconductive Cooling Units. The catch is that the required elemental Descendant rotates by day of the week, so check the requirement before you queue.

Random world drops from commanders in Axion Plains, Void Vessel, and Supermassive Receptor exist, but the rate is low enough that hundreds of runs can pass without one. Treat those as a bonus and build your routine around the fixed daily, weekly, and chip-gated rewards instead.

Fastest XP farms for Descendants, weapons, and Arche Tuning

Levelling splits into three separate bars, and each has its own best activity. Special Operations remain the quickest way to take a fresh Descendant or weapon to 40.

Sigma Sector: Isolated DesertArche Tuning XP

The 400% dungeons are the flexible option. They pay XP, loot, and bonus gold at the same time, and you set the multiplier on the mission screen before launching a public or private operation.

Catalysts, Energy Activators, and cores

Crystallization Catalysts and Energy Activators raise module capacity, and they are the reason to keep Void Vessel in the rotation. Void Vessel-072 — specifically the Assumed Bridge Zone and Medium-Sized Facility Zone runs — is the main source of catalyst materials.

Do not try to target-farm the catalyst and activator blueprints themselves. They drop from every amorphous material in the game, so they accumulate passively while you farm for anything else. Chasing a specific pattern for them wastes runs you could spend on modules or weapons.

Cores split by type. Weapon cores come from Void Erosion Purge, which drops Rank 10 versions, while component cores come out of Sigma Sectors and Wall Crasher. Materials for levelling dogs, including the Snowy Sled Dog, drop from Void Vessel and 400% dungeons, so those runs double up.

Gold, Kuiper, and Caliber farms

Gold comes fastest from Breach Tracking, where Resonating Amorphous Dimensional Stones pay out in the millions per choice reward. Backing that up, the four 400% Infiltration Operations give a bonus reward up to four times a day, and Void Vessel completions can roll gold at the end.

Kuiper is simpler. Take duplicate blue, purple, and trigger modules to Silion in Albion, pick Dismantle Modules or Dismantle Trigger Module, select the duplicates, and confirm. Your Kuiper total updates immediately on the currency bar, and a single bulk dismantle of hoarded duplicates usually clears a build’s worth of upgrade costs.

Caliber, the premium currency, can be earned without spending money by listing spare Ancestor and Trigger Modules on the official Trade Market. Rolls that are useless to your build still sell to players chasing a specific stat line, which turns duplicate modules into shop currency.

Daily and weekly claims to clear before you grind

Two NPCs in Albion gate a meaningful chunk of free materials. The BB-On mission board holds Daily and Weekly Content challenges that pay materials and coins for objectives you complete anyway, such as running hard-mode Infiltration Operations in Axion Plains.

Eckert handles orders. HQ Standing Orders cover base Descendants and the Hagios Sheepdog code, while HQ Special Orders rotate blueprints such as Hammer and Anvil. Both are worth a look at reset before you commit to a long farming session.

Lava Citadel is the seasonal boss at Level 150, and its rewards scale with how much you handicap yourself. Open the intercept battle screen, choose Critical Point Settings, and apply negative modifiers such as Zero-Point Distortion or Armor Degradation until you hit the Critical Point threshold for the tier you want. Beating the boss at that setting unlocks the next stage and releases its rewards.

Two dates are worth planning around. On September 17, Transcendent Weapon trading and Lounge storage trading arrive alongside Ultimate Hailey and the Cradle of Evolution, which changes what a spare high-Quality roll is worth to you. On October 15, more Transcendent Weapons, a farming assistance system for them, and a second Trials map land. Until then, the priority order holds: push Base Quality to 400 with fast Onslaught or Axion Plains clears, take the guaranteed Ancestor Modules from Bounty Operations and resets, and let catalyst blueprints pile up on their own.
