The Gentle South Wind Arrives is a Jianghu Legacy quest in Where Winds Meet that ties together the Painter’s storyline, the Veiled Lady encounter, and the start of the Gone with the Wind questline. The Gentle South Wind Arrives only triggers after you finish the earlier beats of the Painter’s storyline. If the lamp on the tent does not respond, one of these steps is still incomplete.

After Sunken City Lake ends, you wake up by the well in Qinghe. That waking moment is the entry point for The Gentle South Wind Arrives.

Advance time again until the clock reads the Zi hour of the following day. The Zi hour is the late-night window the game uses to gate this encounter.

Walk up to the small tent next to the well and light the hanging lamp. The Veiled Lady appears, and the Jianghu Legacy quest tag updates on screen, confirming the trigger.

Follow the Veiled Lady through the questline

Once the conversation begins, the quest pushes you out of Qinghe and into a scripted route that ends in a boss arena. The path is mostly linear, but a few objectives can stall if you ignore the on-screen prompts.

Cross the bridge after the cutscene. Enemies along the way can be skipped without taking damage if you keep moving and avoid the patrols.

Speak with the Northern Vow disciple who blocks the road. The fight that follows is a short scripted duel built around heavy attacks, so charge a heavy swing when the prompt appears and parry the red-glow strikes.

Pass through the ruins of the battlefield and the burnt-down village. Follow the tracks on the ground and press C to crouch when the game flags a stealth segment.

Traverse the Withered Woods. Wind Sense (V) highlights the route, but the trail is also marked by a visible blue-purple glow, so you can follow it without toggling the skill.

Pursue the strange purple shadow. The camera pulls in tight here, so press G to switch to first-person mode if you lose sight of the target. Expect chip damage from the environment during this chase.

Boss fight: the Veiled Lady

The chase ends in an arena where the girl from the opening conversation reveals herself as the Veiled Lady. The fight is the gate between the questline’s exploration phase and its conclusion.

Her moveset mixes quick strikes with red-glow attacks that demand a perfect parry and gold-glow attacks that must be dodged. Once her Qi bar is depleted, she is stunned for a short window. Save your strongest combo for that opening, and trigger the Execute prompt at the very end of the exhaust duration to maximize damage.

Bringing a companion is allowed in this fight and helps with aggro management if the parry timings give you trouble. Defeating her plays the closing cutscene and prints the line “Gone with the Wind” on screen, which signals the next questline is now queued.

Claim the Koi Key and finish the quest

After the cutscene, you return to the well in Qinghe. The Aori glow campaign unlocks at this point and appears in your campaign list.

Open the menu and advance time by a full day. Returning to the well too early will not spawn the reward.

Verification and common reasons it fails to progress

You know the quest is complete when the Koi Key is in your inventory and the Gone with the Wind tracker takes its place in the active quest list. The Veiled Woman campaign boss also becomes available from the boss menu after this point.
