In The Hunt: Roblox 20, Build a Boat for Treasure is the 2018 experience that awards two badges. First, bake the anniversary cake to receive the R20 Event badge. Then take on a separate, unmarked scavenger hunt to find a secret badge and The Archivist’s Handbook. The cake badge is required before the puzzle hunt becomes available to your account.

What you need before the secret quest starts
Your account must have the regular event badge before the puzzle hunt becomes available, so entering the search phrase before then will not work. Get these ready first.

The Hunt: Roblox 20 ends on September 28, 2026, and both badges plus the hub reward must be claimed before then.
Head to the 2018 island in the event hub and enter the red Build a Boat for Treasure portal. It takes you to the build plots, where you will complete the entire run.
Open the Roblox 20 button on your HUD and select Accept Quest. You will see three brief goals: build and launch a boat, get to the bakery stage, and bake an anniversary cake.

On your plot, put together a simple boat using several blocks and a steering seat. Adding a motor or propeller helps with steering, but no advanced or unlocked materials are needed.
Follow the party-hat marker and distance readout down the river toward the bakery, roughly 2,500 studs away. Steer past the rocks, fish, and rotating gear instead of hitting them, since the hull takes damage the whole way. Spread your blocks evenly, keep the seat near the middle, and leave spare material around your character. If a run ends early, spend the gold you earned on common chests for more planks before the next attempt.
At the bakery, the Ingredients list displays milk, butter, and an egg, all outlined in green. Walk into each ingredient to collect it; the mixer and oven then complete the process on their own. When the Roblox 20 cake card appears, pick it up to trigger the R20 Event badge’s Badge Awarded popup.
While you gather the items, watch for a rolling pin crossing the bakery floor, as it can knock you down. Keep moving; completing the quest takes under five minutes.
Optional waterfall route to the hidden book room
You can take a detour from the river route: at the waterfall, guide your boat toward the left bank, get out, and walk through the falling water. Beyond it is a hidden chamber with bookshelves and a closed portal arch.

The shelf books must be activated in a particular sequence to open the door; random clicks will not work. Beyond it, a passage contains airborne jack-o’-lanterns that bounce before exploding on impact. Keep moving through this section, since dying resets your quest progress. The tunnel leads back to the river, from which you can continue to the bakery stage.

Start the secret puzzle hunt with the magnifying glass
The map gives no indication of this hunt. It is tucked into the build menu and remains concealed until you enter the phrase manually. The tool you receive is called a magnifying glass, though it detects hidden objects rather than actually magnifying things.
A large handheld magnifying glass appears above your avatar along with a 0/25 counter. The purple puzzle pieces only show through the lens, so keep it raised while you search.
Start by searching the spawn island around the build plots. Run across each piece to add it to your event inventory. Look on the grass, in the tree leaves, beside the wooden fence, and with the NPCs celebrating the anniversary; these spots provide enough to collect into the low twenties. There is no need to sail to an event area or the main-quest bakery.
Some pieces need special items that are also only visible through the lens. Use a Spring Coil or coil to jump to elevated leaves and platforms, a Body Swap to switch places with an NPC holding a piece, and a bomb to break open a sealed barrier. One piece is tucked inside a tree, reached by squeezing through its side rather than destroying it.
Lay the pieces across the grass field and use an image of the finished logo as a guide for their placement. Once assembled, the 5×5 picture shows the Build a Boat for Treasure logo and a sailing ship silhouette.
Set down the final piece to complete the logo. A disco ball drops overhead with dancing noobs circling it, several NPCs spawn to celebrate, and the secret badge is granted immediately.
Claim The Archivist’s Handbook in the 2018 hub
Earning the badge does not automatically add the reward to your inventory. Exit the game, return to the event hub, and go back to the 2018 area to collect it.
From the hub, pass the teleport cube, head toward the river, and follow its course downstream. Continue along the water until you find the wide temple made of stepped stone.
Climb the stairs to the top, where Gert, the enormous purple figure, stands at the summit. Pass behind him and take the ledge around the outside cliff to find the secret podium, with The Archivist’s Handbook floating away from the main route.
Press the E key to interact with the podium. It grants The Archivist’s Handbook and the secret quest badge. The route also goes by the reward for the R20 Event badge, so pick up both on this visit if you still need either.
