The Legend of Echoback Landing in Aniimo (Full Quest Walkthrough)

The Legend of Echoback Landing is the Journey chapter tied to the giant stranded Aniimo skeleton on the Breezy Plains coast. It bundles three quests together, and the order you run them in matters, because one of them produces the item another one demands.

Quick answer: Finish Everlasting Echoback Song to obtain the Whalesong Blossom, deliver it to Elvira to close A Fragrant Journey: Echoback Landing, then clear Stars and the Knight on the beach for 100% chapter completion.

The three quests in the chapter

All three appear under the Journey tab of your Log. Two of them play out entirely on the Echoback Landing shoreline; the third sends you back inland to hand something over.

A Fragrant Journey: Echoback Landing is flagged by the Clue: Longing by the Water entry in your Log, so it can sit in your journal long before you have anything to hand Elvira. Run the echonite quest first and the delivery becomes a one-minute trip.

Echoback Landing region requirements

Echoback Landing sits in Breezy Plains and runs at level 36 to 40. Water is the dominant element along the coast, with wind and earth regional forms mixed in, so a party built around fire or lightning damage clears the fights here comfortably.

The Beachside Sandbars transporter is the one you want unlocked before you start, since both beach quests loop back to it.

Everlasting Echoback Song walkthrough

This is the centerpiece of the chapter, and it is gated behind the time of day. Nothing on the skeleton reacts to you while the sun is up.

Open the Log, select Everlasting Echoback Song under the Journey tab, and track it. The marker drops you on the Echoback Landing shore.

Follow the beach to Sorora, the amnesiac painter standing at his easel, and talk to him. The cutscene The Painter by the Sea plays and the quest formally begins.

Set the in-game clock to nighttime. The echonite crystals buried in the whale bones only glow blue and accept hits after dark.

Twine with an Aniimo and strike the first glowing echonite on the skeleton. Mounting up makes the climb along the ribs and spine much faster.

Trace the energy lines running across the skeleton and hit each node in the order the trail lights up. The sequence moves from the shore bones out across the arches.

Swap Aniimo forms where the path is blocked. Some nodes sit behind rocks in the shallows that need to be broken before you can reach them.

Hit the final node. A constellation lights up the sky and a cutscene of the giant glowing Echoback whales rising from the ocean plays out.

Head back toward the shore and harvest the Whalesong Blossom that has bloomed on the pink Echoback bone.

Return to Sorora at the easel and work through the dialogue about naming the finished painting. He hands over the Echoback Song artwork and the quest closes.

Keep the Whalesong Blossom in your bag. It is the only item the next quest asks for.

A Fragrant Journey: Echoback Landing – deliver the blossom to Elvira

This one is short. It exists purely to move the flower from the coast to the perfumer.

In the Log, open the Clue: Longing by the Water entry and track the location. The pin lands near Bloomville in the Sea of Flowers.

Fast travel to the Bloomville waypoint and cross the river to the far bank. Swimming across is quicker than following the shoreline around.

Talk to Elvira at the water’s edge and hand over the Whalesong Blossom. The cutscene The True Meaning of Longing plays, and she gives you the Whisper of Longing perfume.

That perfume is the pink of the Breezy Plains, and it is what the Colorless Dream – Echoback back at Tideblossom Coast asks for later.

Stars and the Knight walkthrough

The second beach quest is a daytime job built around the Susuta family and a very small, very nervous Shelly. You need to be able to understand what the local Aniimo are saying, which means twining with one of them.

Track Stars and the Knight from the Log, fast travel to the Beachside Sandbars transporter, and advance the clock to daytime.

Catch a wild Susuta on the beach with an Aniipod Pro. You need one in your party for the conversation that follows.

Twine with the Susuta and speak to the anxious group nearby. They explain that their shiny shells have been taken.

Follow the marked spots along the coastline and into the cave, then dig up the buried shell. A frightened Sparkly Shelly is hiding inside it.

Catch a wild Shelly near the shell-shaped rock at the water’s edge using an Aniipod Mega. You will need its shock waves shortly.

Speak to Sparkly Shelly on the shore to begin the First Patrol route, which runs across the flowerbeds and along the sandy path.

Use shock waves to wake the sleeping Shelly you find on the patrol, then fight off the Susuta and Popota that attack. Winning drops the Susuta Shovel and the Shell Sword.

Give Sherro’s Shell Sword to Sparkly Shelly, then return to the original Susuta group, twine with them, and hand over the Susuta Shovel to finish the quest.

The Susuta and Popota you fight here are BREAK-role water types. Bringing a fire or lightning damage dealer shortens the fight considerably.

Chapter rewards and how to confirm 100% completion

Across the three quests you walk away with the Echoback Song painting from Sorora, the Whisper of Longing perfume from Elvira, and the Irisalis Petal that drops when the chapter closes out.

To verify it, open the Log and look at the Journey tab. The Legend of Echoback Landing should read 100% with all three quests struck through, and the chapter completion reward is collectable from that screen. If the counter is short, the missing piece is almost always the Whalesong Blossom handover, because the flower can sit unused in your bag indefinitely after Sorora’s quest ends.
