The Legend of Echoback Landing in Aniimo (Full Walkthrough)

The Journey chapter called The Legend of Echoback Landing centers on the enormous Echoback skeleton stranded along the Breezy Plains shore. It contains three quests; follow the right sequence, since an item earned in one is required for another.

Quick answer: Complete Everlasting Echoback Song after night falls to get the Whalesong Blossom. Bring it to Elvira to finish A Fragrant Journey: Echoback Landing, then complete Stars and the Knight during daylight to reach 100% chapter completion.

Prerequisites and region level for Echoback Landing

Echoback Landing is in Breezy Plains, with recommended levels from 36 to 40. Water dominates the coast, alongside wind and rock regional forms. Fire- or lightning-focused damage makes these encounters comfortable to clear.

Two prerequisites unlock the chapter. The Day and Night Switch is the big one, since the centerpiece quest only works after dark. It is unlocked in the main story chapter Journey to Bloomville, at the step where you stay the night at the elder’s house. The clue that starts Elvira’s delivery quest, Longing by the Water, appears only after you have sensed the Echoback Colorless Dream during Fragrant Dream.

Travel to the beach from the Breezy Plains world map, then begin any regional quest to unlock the questline. Unlock the Beachside Sandbars transporter early; both quests on the beach return to this point.

The shoreline also hosts a level 40 Alpha Panpanta. Like the quest enemies it is water-typed, so ice, electric, and leaf attacks land hardest against it while fire, earth, and dark are poor picks.

The three quests and the order to run them

You can find all three quests in your Log’s Journey tab. Two take place entirely along the Echoback Landing shore; the remaining quest requires a trip inland to deliver an item. Start with the echonite quest to make that later delivery a one-minute trip.

Everlasting Echoback Song walkthrough

This chapter’s central quest is restricted by the time of day: the skeleton remains inactive in daylight.

From the Journey tab in the Log, choose Everlasting Echoback Song and set it to tracked. Its marker leads to the Echoback Landing shore.

Walk along the beach until you find Sorora at his easel, then speak with the amnesiac painter. The Painter by the Sea cutscene starts, officially opening the quest.

Switch the game to nighttime. The Echonite crystals embedded in the whale bones shine blue, and you can strike them only after nightfall.

Twine with an Aniimo, then attack the first echonite that glows on the skeleton. Riding makes it much quicker to travel up the ribs and spine.

Follow the energy trails over the skeleton, striking the nodes as each one lights in sequence. You must activate ten nodes, starting at the bones by the shore and continuing over the arches toward the distant female Echoback.

Change Aniimo forms when obstacles block your route. Rocks in the shallows conceal some nodes and must be smashed to reach them. Should the resonance halt, hit the nodes you’ve already activated once more.

Activate the last node to illuminate a constellation overhead and trigger a cutscene showing giant, glowing Echoback whales rising out of the ocean.

Make your way back toward shore and gather the Whalesong Blossom from the pink Echoback bone where it has flowered.

Return to Sorora at her easel and choose a title for the finished painting: Symphony of Reunion or Echoes of a Vigil. She rewards you with the Echoback Song artwork, and the quest is complete.

Keep the Whalesong Blossom in your bag. It is the only item the delivery quest asks for, and it can sit unused indefinitely after Sorora’s quest ends.

A Fragrant Journey: Echoback Landing — deliver the blossom to Elvira

This brief quest simply takes the flower from the coast to Bloomville’s perfumer.

Find Clue: Longing by the Water in the Log and track its location. The marker appears close to Bloomville, in the Sea of Flowers.

Use fast travel to reach the Bloomville waypoint, then swim to the opposite riverbank. A direct crossing is faster than going around along the shore.

Talk to Elvira at the water’s edge and hand over the Whalesong Blossom. The cutscene The True Meaning of Longing plays, and she gives you the Whisper of Longing perfume. That perfume is the pink of the Breezy Plains, and it is what the Echoback Colorless Dream asks for later in Fragrant Dream.

Stars and the Knight walkthrough

Stars and the Knight is the other beach quest, a daytime task involving the Susuta family and a tiny, nervous Sparkly Shelly. To understand the local Aniimo, you must first twine with one. Unlock the quest by defeating the aged Omega Sherro, either via the clue The Aging Sherro or in the main-story encounter Ancient Sacred Fragrance.

In the Log, track Stars and the Knight. Fast-travel to Beachside Sandbars, then set the clock to daytime.

Use an Aniipod Pro to catch a wild Susuta on the beach. Keep it in your party for the conversation ahead.

Twine with your Susuta, then talk with the worried group nearby. They tell you someone has taken their shiny shells.

Search the marked spots on the coast and in the cave, then excavate the buried shell. The shiny shell stands out from the other sites, which hold either a buried Aniipod or an ordinary shell. Inside the shiny one, a frightened Sparkly Shelly is hiding.

Catch a wild Shelly near the shell-shaped rock at the water’s edge using an Aniipod Mega. You will need its shock waves shortly.

Start the First Patrol route by speaking with Sparkly Shelly on the shore. The route crosses the flowerbeds and follows the sandy path.

During the patrol, use shock waves to rouse the sleeping Shelly, then fend off the attacking Susuta and Popota. Victory awards the Susuta Shovel and Shell Sword.

Give Sherro’s Shell Sword to Sparkly Shelly, then return to the original Susuta group, twine with them, and hand over the Susuta Shovel to finish the quest.

The Susuta and Popota in this encounter are water-type BREAK roles. A fire- or lightning-damage dealer can bring the fight to a close considerably faster.

Each quest pays out Credits, Glimmer, and Safaris alongside a standout item, and closing the whole chapter adds the completion bundle on top.

How to confirm 100% completion

Check the Journey tab in your Log: all three quests should be crossed off, and The Legend of Echoback Landing should show 100%. Collect the chapter completion reward there, which includes the Irisalis Petal. Report Cards are also awarded when you reach the chapter’s 33% and 67% milestones. If progress stops before completion, check whether you gave Elvira the Whalesong Blossom; it may remain in your bag long after Sorora’s quest is done.
