What The Mailroom is
You play a human mail clerk working what amounts to hell’s worst entry-level job. Each shift starts with an elevator ride down into the dark realm, a punch of the time clock, and a pile of correspondence addressed to your infernal bosses. You read clues on envelopes, identify where each item belongs, and route it to the right floor through a pneumatic tube network that runs from floor 1 to floor 6.
The loop is a routine, and the game is built around that routine breaking down. Mistakes get noticed, and every in-game day brings a new set of problems. Neglect the equipment and the mail stops moving, which is very bad news for you. Underneath the daily grind there is a larger goal: work out what this place really is and find a way out of hell before you’re stuck there for good. Crowfriend calls it a “cozy horror workplace simulator,” and the trailer leans as hard on dark comedy as it does on dread.

What the release date trailer shows
The trailer runs about a minute. It’s framed as an orientation tape played on an old CRT TV, and it opens with a hiring letter: “You are hired. Report to work immediately at 666 5th St. Your first shift begins tonight.” From there the footage moves through a normal shift, and that shift involves a lot more than envelopes:
- Checking senders and recipients against a directory before sending canisters to a floor
- Pouring measured liquids, with readouts like 142 mL and 270 mL
- Chopping raw meat and weighing organs on a kitchen scale
- Grinding fish into mixtures in a mortar until a percentage readout hits the target
- Burning bills in a furnace that reports its own heat status
- Repairing broken machinery and restarting a compressor
These tasks feed into the game’s potion crafting and resource management. The processed materials go up to hell’s higher ranks, and precise mixtures are what put you in line for employee of the month. A wall tally of green checkmarks and red X’s suggests your accuracy is being tracked across the shift.

Then the tape starts to go wrong. The narrator warns you not to touch anything else, and the footage immediately cuts to the player tossing frogs into chutes. The video skips forward past a creature being flushed down a toilet. A blood-smeared letter reads “LOOK Behind you,” and when the player turns around, an enormous frog says “Dude.” Frogs are clearly central here: the prompts let you pet them, and the store description says you can dissect them as well.

The last section of the trailer shifts to pentagram magic and checklist errands in dark hallways. The listed errands include “Get a cigarette,” “Get some junk mail,” “Get some toilet paper,” and “Cast spell to unlock the elevator.” Rolling cow-like creatures move through the corridors in the background. The final card reads “COMING TO STEAM OCTOBER 26.”
