The Relic: First Guardian: Every Item and Resource Enemies Drop

A breakdown of the four resources defeated enemies leave behind and what each one is used for.

A breakdown of the four resources defeated enemies leave behind and what each one is used for.

Defeating enemies in The Relic: First Guardian feeds a short list of currencies, crafting items, and progression resources that pop up in the notification feed along the left edge of the screen. The drops stay consistent across the ruined world of Arsilthus, whether you are fighting bandits in a forest, armored foes in burning ruins, or shrouded creatures in a swamp.

Quick answer: Enemies drop four things — Gold, Relic Energy, Corrupted Magic Crystal, and Fragment of a Distorted Soul — each shown as a left-side pickup notification.

The four enemy drops in The Relic: First Guardian

Each kill can leave behind currency, a progression resource, or a crafting item. The quantities scatter widely, and the same enemy type in a zone tends to give the same reward. Here is what appears and where it turns up during combat.

ResourceQuantities seenWhere it drops
Goldx10 (small pickups)Forest melee fights
Relic Energyx13, x17, x50Burning ruins, misty forest, swamp
Corrupted Magic Crystalx1Burning battlefield

Enemies do not respawn. Once you clear a zone, those drops are gone for that playthrough, so there is no simple loop of farming the same grunts over and over.

What each resource is used for

Gold

Gold is the standard currency. Standard enemies hand out small amounts, with single kills dropping around x10, and field pickups generally land in the 30–40 range. The value does not scale up as you progress, so late-game foes pay out much the same as early ones. You spend Gold in town, where it goes toward the stones and gems that raise weapon damage.

Relic Energy

Relic Energy is the progression resource, and it drops in the widest range of amounts. Fights in the burning ruins and misty forests give stacks like x13, x17, and x50 depending on the enemy. Because the game has no traditional XP level system, this energy is what you pour into skills and Relic-based growth rather than a character level.

Corrupted Magic Crystal

The Corrupted Magic Crystal is a rarer crafting item. It shows up in much smaller numbers than Gold or Relic Energy, dropping as little as x1 from tougher enemies in the burning battlefield. Treat these as scarce materials rather than something you will pick up in bulk.

Fragment of a Distorted Soul

Fragment of a Distorted Soul is tied to specific enemies. It comes from the shadowy foes you cut through in the dark swamp, alongside additional Relic Energy from the same fights. If you are looking for these fragments, the swamp encounters are where they turn up.

What enemies do not drop

Not every upgrade material comes off a corpse. The stones and gems that level up your weapons are not enemy drops at all, and they usually cannot be found lying in the world either. You buy them in town with the Gold you collect. Rare relic-upgrade materials such as Mythic Shards also fall outside the standard enemy loot table and have to be hunted deliberately.

That split matters for how you plan a run. Killing enemies builds up Gold, Relic Energy, and the occasional crafting item, but turning that into stronger gear happens back at a settlement rather than in the field. Since foes do not respawn, the most efficient approach is to clear what you meet, bank the resources, and spend them on the equipment and skills you actually intend to use.
