The Veil: How to Find the Lost Recipe Book (Roblox)

The full route to Ogmo's hollow log, the silver you need, and the regeneration sword Malochi hands over.

The full route to Ogmo’s hollow log, the silver you need, and the regeneration sword Malochi hands over.

The Lost Recipe Book is one of the shortest side quests in The Veil, and one of the few that pays out a weapon worth keeping. It starts and ends with Malochi, the merchant inside The Verdant Hollow tavern, and the only real obstacle is knowing which tree to walk into.

Quick answer: Take the forest path down from the village, find the NPC Ogmo living inside a hollow log, buy Malochi’s Recipe Book for 10 Silver, then return to Malochi in The Verdant Hollow and hand over the book plus 100 Silver.

Lost Recipe Book quest requirements and reward

Bring the silver before you leave town. The quest asks for two separate payments, and the turn-in will not go through if you are short on the second one.

RequirementDetail
Quest giverMalochi, merchant inside The Verdant Hollow tavern
Book holderOgmo, in a hollow tree log in the forest below the village
Book price10 Silver
Turn-in cost100 Silver, paid together with the book
Total spendRoughly 110 Silver
RewardA sword with health regeneration while equipped

Note: beta values move. One server build charged 20 Silver for the book instead of 10, so read the dialogue prompt before you confirm the payment.

Where to find Ogmo and buy Malochi’s Recipe Book

Leave the settlement and follow the dirt path down through the grassy forest area, starting near the Enhance building. Keep to the trail rather than cutting into the trees, since the log sits just off the main route.

Look for a large hollowed-out tree structure at the end of the path and step inside it. Ogmo lives in there, and approaching him triggers a “PERSON UNVEILED” notification confirming you have the right NPC.
Talk to Ogmo and work through his dialogue tree. Asking “Could I have it?” gets you refused outright with “NO IDIOT IT’S MINE!”, so that branch is a dead end.

Pick “How about I buy it?” instead. Ogmo replies with “Fine, gimme some silver and I’ll be happy you freak hah”, which opens the purchase option.

Select “Here. (10 Silver)” to pay. An “Item Obtained – Malochi’s Recipe Book” banner appears, Ogmo signs off with “Thanks idiot, take your stupid book”, and the side quest updates to send you back to Malochi.

How to turn the book in to Malochi at The Verdant Hollow

Run back up the forest path to the settlement buildings and find the structure labeled The Verdant Hollow. The name floats above the building, so you do not need the map for this leg.
Go inside and climb the tall ladder to the upper level. Malochi stands up there behind a “Merchant” marker.
Interact with him and choose “I found your book!” from the dialogue list. He responds with “You found it? You actually found it! Hand it here, and the hundred silver we settled on.”
Select “Here. (Malochi’s Recipe Book and 100 Silver)” to finish the exchange. The alternative option, “Actually, hold on”, simply backs out without completing anything.

How to confirm the quest completed and check the weapon

You know it worked when the recipe book leaves your inventory, 100 Silver is deducted, and the side quest clears from your tracker. The weapon lands in your bag immediately after.

Open the Bag menu and inspect it before you do anything else. It is a keyblade-style sword with health regeneration that ticks while the weapon is equipped, listed around 10 base damage with 7 critical in one build and 11 base damage in another, carrying a named ability. Its rarity color has shown up as both rare and legendary depending on the server build, which is exactly why players sell it by accident. Lock the item in your inventory so it cannot be traded or vendored while you compare it to later drops.

Why the turn-in does not go through

  • You are short on silver. Malochi answers with “I don’t see any money on you…” and the hand-in option does nothing until you carry the full 100.
  • You picked “Could I have it?” with Ogmo and ended the conversation. Talk to him again and take the buy line instead.
  • You sold or traded Malochi’s Recipe Book. It is a purchased quest item, not a monster drop, so keep it separate from gear you intend to move.

Roughly 110 Silver for a free regenerating sword is one of the better early trades in the game, especially since the same silver at the spawn-town blacksmith buys a greatsword with no sustain attached. Run it early, lock the reward, and treat any tooltip number you see as a beta value that could shift with the next patch.
