Universal Tower Defense X spreads dozens of anime-style units across five roles, and only a handful actually carry the hardest content. The strongest picks combine raw damage with scaling, crowd control, or buffs that no other unit replicates. The units below are the ones worth your gems, evolution materials, and trait rerolls for Infinite, Challenges, Virtual Realm, and late-game raids.
Universal Tower Defense X tier list (all units, May 2026)
Tiers reflect performance in endgame modes like Nightmare, Infinite, and Virtual Realm, not early progression. Almost any unit clears the story if you upgrade and Etherealize it with good relics. The split below ranks units by how much they contribute to clearing the hardest content right now.

S-Tier units and why they dominate
S-tier units don't just hit hard. Each one brings a mechanic that nothing else copies, whether that's an endless shadow army, a map-wide nuke, or stacking team-wide damage amplification. These are your priority targets for relics and Etherealization.

| Unit | Rarity | Role | Why it ranks S |
|---|---|---|---|
![]() | Boundless | Hybrid | Builds a mana-fueled army of shadow soldiers, bears, dragons, knights, and an Ant King. The System passive keeps growing his damage and unlocks stronger summons up to level 100, making him the most self-sufficient unit in the game. |
![]() | Boundless | Ground | Hits every enemy on the map for 300% with Infinite Purple, freezes everything in range for 30 seconds with Domain Expansion, and triples damage on Timestop targets. Six Eyes grants debuff immunity and resets cooldowns every 600 kills. |
![]() | Boundless | Ground | Marks every enemy hit and scales their damage taken as marks pile up. At 21+ marks in range, all enemies take 25% more damage and slow. Perfect Curse copies his damage while applying stuns, bleeds, and radiation. The strongest non-Synchro unit for raw DPS. |
![]() | Mythic | Ground | Applies bleed on every attack with a 50% follow-up that triggers fire arrows or AOE web attacks. At Ethereal 6, Domain Expansion deals 25% damage every 0.5 seconds, slows 20%, and raises all damage taken until death. |
![]() | Secret | Ground | Rinnegan gives three actives: an Almighty Push for 200% knockback, an Almighty Pull that stuns 15 enemies for 5 seconds, and a teleport crit buff. Dimensional Warp deals 300% to any boss under 30% health. |
![]() | Secret | Hybrid | Builds a rage meter that boosts damage and range, then at 100 rage enters Dragon Form for 90 seconds of manually controlled 150% damage at Ethereal 6. One of the highest damage ceilings available, but needs manual control. |
![]() | Mythic | Ground | Domain Expansion stacks confusion, stun, and 20% damage taken, then activates Execution Sword for 50% crit rate and 125% crit damage at Ethereal 6. Talent stacks damage and range every wave for 15 waves, then grants debuff immunity. |
![]() | Secret | Hybrid | Switches between four classes — DPS for 50% boss damage, Utility for stun and damage taken, Support for team crit buffs, and Specialist for 50% true damage and 40% DOT. Wind Shear adds 60% DOT over 10 ticks on every attack. |
![]() | Secret | Hill | Stuns all allies in range every 12 seconds and converts each into a self-buff. Soul Harvest summons up to 10 ghosts for stacking damage, and Ethereal Life Force spawns a Giant Ghost with 250% of his damage as health for bosses. |
![]() | Synchro | Hybrid | Converts every negative buff into a positive one at Ethereal 4, making him debuff-immune. Wind Shear stacks 2.5% damage per afflicted enemy up to 50%, then adds stuns. Sibling Combined Weapon adds 60% hyper armor damage. |
![]() | Exclusive | Ground | One-time active deals 350% to every enemy on the map, applies 15 seconds of Quake Stun that stacks with regular stun, and marks every enemy to take 50% more damage until death. Gains 40% damage when Spade is in range. |
Synchro units for the highest DPS
Synchro Drive fuses two max-upgrade units into one with the best damage in the game. The fused unit inherits the stats, traits, and relics from only one of the two source units, so build the donor carefully. You can pull the second unit from another player via request if you don't own both.
| Synchro unit | Fusion | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Revolutionary Chief (Spade) | Revolutionary Chief (Emperor) + Spade (Donut) | The best DoT Synchro. Critical Strike burns shred bosses and DoT explosions clear crowds on kill. Run a Ruler and Critical build over Astral. |
| Unparalleled Armor | Nutaru (Beast) + Ancient Shinobi (Reawakened) | The best Synchro overall for DPS and support. Applies a 3-second stun or confused on every attack while breaking armor. |
| Majestic Armor | Nutaru (Beast) + Sasku (Great War) | The second-best Synchro. Heavy crit damage and DoTs on hit, though it brings less crowd control than Unparalleled Armor. |
| Underworld God | Underworld God (Death) + Water God (Primordial) | Strong self-DPS buffs, armor damage, and debuff cleanse. |
There are also Synchro Clash pairs that trigger a combined attack when both units are max upgrade and within each other's range. Pirate King and Quake Warlord release a second map-wide nuke. Jane Juliet, and Mimicry Sorcerer fire a combined beam for 500% of the average damage between them.

A-Tier units worth building around
A-tier covers strong alternatives and the best support and economy picks. If you can't land an S-tier carry, these units clear late-game content reliably and several are nearly mandatory in top compositions.
| Unit | Rarity | Role | Strength |
|---|---|---|---|
![]() | Mythic | Ground | Cuts SPA 15% for Sorcerer allies and slows all enemies 30%. Domain Expansion stuns for 10 seconds plus 4 seconds of confusion. Huge passive value for Sorcerer teams. |
![]() | Secret | Ground | Stuns the first enemy hit for 3 seconds every attack and copies passives from other Sorcerer units for 75 seconds at Ethereal 6, borrowing bleed, slow zones, or debuff immunity. |
![]() | Unrivaled | Ground | Chains lightning to 5 enemies after each attack at Ethereal 4 and buffs Magi or Water allies with up to 50% damage and attack speed. Scales positively regardless of team makeup. |
![]() | Exclusive | Ground | Freestyle builds style rank from D to SSS for 5% damage per rank, staying active at Ethereal 6 until he idles for 10 seconds. Rewards consistent uptime with a massive ceiling. |
![]() | Universal | Hybrid | Three paths: Snakeman for chaining, Bounceman for stacking range and knockback, Joyboy for true damage variants. All three share Conqueror for a free area stun every 30 seconds. Avoid the bottom path. |
![]() | Secret | Hybrid | Drops up to 6 traps when idle, then switches to infinite-range sniper mode. Each active trap adds 10% damage, and capped traps make entering enemies take 20% more damage, or 40% on bosses. |
![]() | Mythic | Hybrid | Maintains up to 9 planes at Ethereal 6 that ignore range limits, with 30% crit rate and 50% damage on spawn. Enormous consistent DPS with no team synergy required. |
![]() | Secret | Ground | 50% bonus boss damage and 100% against stunned bosses. At Ethereal 6, follows up for every active DOT on an enemy. One of the best dedicated boss killers. |
![]() | Secret | Ground | 60% radiation over 6 ticks and 15% slow every attack. Predatory Gluttony stacks true damage per kill and maxes it instantly on a boss kill. Gains 20% damage near Jinoo. |
![]() | Secret | Hybrid | Controls enemy movement instead of attacking. Absolute Control applies any order to every enemy on the map at once, and Stand Still stuns for 4 seconds. Map-wide crowd control on demand. |
Support and farm units for every team
A meta team needs more than raw DPS. Run a leader buffer in your first slot and at least one farm unit to rush upgrades. Placing a buffer outside the Leader slot removes its team buffs.
| Slot | Best picks | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Leader buffer | Triple Threat (Unrivaled), Kind Sailor (Unrivaled) | Must sit in the Leader/first slot for their team buffs to apply. |
| Farm | Bulmo, Fastcart | Run both if you're going for Synchro to rush upgrades. Bulma alone is enough otherwise. |
Best traits to reroll
Traits stack on top of a unit's kit and can change how it performs. Prioritize the strongest traits on your S-tier carries before touching anything in A-tier or lower. Rerolling replaces the existing trait permanently, so screenshot a good trait before you roll again.
| Tier | Traits |
|---|---|
| S | Astra, Artificier, Eternal, Fission, Sacred, Wizard |
| A | Deadeye, Duelist, Lethal, Lightspeed, Ruler |
| B | Fortunate, Prodigy, Precise |
| C | Agile, Enhanced |

How to summon and reroll traits
You pull new units from the summon building in the main square, and you reroll traits at the building marked with the Traits logo. Both cost in-game resources, so stockpile gems and reroll items from active codes before spending.
Step 1: Open the Areas menu and head to the Summon area to view active banners. Check which mythical-rarity units are featured before you commit any gems.
Step 2: Pull using 1x Summon for 50 gems or 10x Summons for a discounted bulk rate. Confirm the exact cost in-game, since banner prices can shift between versions.
Step 3: For traits, take reroll items to the Traits building, speak to the NPC, pick your unit, and hit Reroll. The first roll assigns a trait to a unit with none, and later rolls replace whatever is equipped.

You know a pull worked when the unit appears in your index, and a reroll worked when the new trait shows on the unit's card. The most common reroll mistake is rolling off a top trait by accident, so always confirm the current trait before spending another item. Play it on Roblox to redeem codes for free gems and reroll items first.
The meta moves fast as new units arrive, but the foundations hold steady. Lock in a Boundless or Synchro carry, slot a Leader buffer up front, keep a farm unit rushing your economy, and put your best traits on the units that scale hardest. That core clears Infinite, Challenges, and Virtual Realm without needing a perfect roster.
