Universal Tower Defense X Tier List – Festival Finale Update (UTDX)

The strongest DPS and support units to build around after the Awakening of the Beast mini update went live.

The strongest DPS and support units to build around after the Awakening of the Beast mini update went live.

The Universal Festival Finale, also called the Awakening of the Beast, is now live in Universal Tower Defense X, and it reshuffles the unit rankings at the top. Four fresh additions slot straight into the highest DPS tier, while raw damage alone no longer decides where a unit lands. The best picks now mix strong damage output with team buffs, crowd control, Hyper Armor damage, elemental coverage, and relic synergy across Infinite, Challenges, Virtual Realm, Ragnarok, and other late-game modes.

Quick answer: For endgame play, build around the S-tier carries first. Merciless God (Goku Black), King Sailor (Unrivaled), Triple Threat (Unrivaled), Joyful Captain (Luffy), and the new Perfect Bio-Android Maximum, Blanco Beast, Funeral Parlor (Fragrance), and Wavechaser (Surfer) are the top units to invest evolutions, traits, and relics into.

How to read this UTDX tier list

These rankings assume full late-game investment. That means units are fully evolved where it applies, carry full Etherealization bonuses, run their best traits, and use properly matched relics. A Mythic unit with the wrong trait and weak relics will perform worse than a lower-ranked unit with the correct setup.

The list also weights late-game value over early Story progression, which is far more forgiving. Harder modes reward scaling, crowd control, armor breaking, team buffs, boss damage, and strong economy, so a unit that slows, stuns, applies damage-over-time, or buffs crit stats can outvalue a higher sheet-DPS unit with no utility.

New Festival Finale units in the rankings

The mini update adds six units across Boundless, Secret, and Exclusive rarities. Four of them enter the meta DPS tier right away. Here is how each new unit is obtained.

UnitRarityHow to get it

To earn the two Exclusive units, complete daily and weekly quests in the Flames and Waves Event to collect Wave Coins, then spend them on capsules in the Event Shop. The capsules give Funeral Parlor (Fragrance), Wavechaser (Surfer), or other resources.

S tier: The strongest meta units

S tier is for units that can anchor an endgame team alone or provide scaling and utility strong enough that you build the whole team around them. Top carries and high-impact specialists sit here above simple sheet-DPS picks.

Update 3.25 meta and unit roles

The current meta sorts units into clearer roles instead of treating everyone as a basic damage carry. Understanding those roles is what makes team building work.

  • Raw DPS — primary damage dealers and wave-clearing carries.
  • Specialists — situational value through armor breaking, boss pressure, or specific game-mode strengths.
  • Utility — control or weaken enemies with slows, stuns, and debuffs.
  • Support — boost the team, improve economy, or make your strongest unit hit harder.

This is why some units rank above their raw damage. A pick that slows, stuns, applies damage-over-time, extends affliction time, buffs crit stats, lowers upgrade costs, or helps against armored enemies can outweigh a higher sheet-DPS unit that offers no team value.

Merciless God / Goku Black build

Merciless God is a flexible three-path unit, similar in design to Joyful Captain / Luffy, and one of the strongest S-tier picks. Each path plays differently, so choose based on the role you need. He is also heavily element-dependent, dealing 2.5x damage with elemental advantage and 5x less damage with disadvantage, so matching elements matters.

PathRole
TopBest for general use. Divine Clone scaling with Bleed and Ionized pressure, plus a large nuke.
MiddleCrowd control and damage-over-time support with follow-up utility.
BottomHigh-risk, high-damage with marks, explosions, stuns, and a map-wide Domain.

The Top Path turns into a serious damage engine when you leave placement slots open. Divine Replication grants +100% Damage for every unused placement slot and keeps summoning Divine Clones that copy part of his damage. Those clones apply Bleed, Scythe of Sorrow adds Ionized damage, every fifth attack can summon two extra clones, and clones deal 1.5x Damage to enemies already affected by Ionized. Super Pink Beam adds a strong burst, hitting a large Line AOE while every active Divine Clone copies the attack for 200% of its own Damage.

SetupTop PathMiddle / Bottom Path
TraitNo Ruler needed; Astral (if not bugged) or SacredRuler; alternatives Duelist or Sacred

SubstatsStack Damage as high as possible; Crit Rate, Crit Dmg, and DoT are minor extrasCrit Rate, Dmg, SPA, Crit Dmg

A strong team around him runs Gogeta, Vegito, Goku Black, Fern, Bulma, and Speedwagon. Miku can replace Fern, but Fern is generally better because she benefits Gogeta-centered teams more.

Rankings will keep shifting as the new Festival Finale units settle and get tested in harder modes, especially the Maximum Bio-Android World Raid where Elemental Shields force element matching. For now, prioritize the S-tier carries for evolutions and relics, slot A-tier units around them for coverage, and lean on traits like Ruler where your build supports it.
