Valheim: How to Get Every Hidden Achievement

The exact trigger for every concealed achievement in Valheim's 1.0 update.

The exact trigger for every concealed achievement in Valheim’s 1.0 update.

Valheim’s 1.0 update ships with 53 Steam achievements, and a handful of them stay hidden until you set them off. On your achievement list they show up only as “Concealed: Only Odin knows what is hidden here,” so there is no in-game hint pointing you toward what to do. Most of them come down to killing a specific boss, dying in a specific way, or crafting and finding something rare.

Quick answer: Defeat each biome boss, die to the exact hazards each death achievement calls for, and complete the crafting and exploration triggers below. Do all of this in a world without mods or console commands, since using either permanently disables achievements in that world.

Boss kills that unlock hidden achievements

Every main boss has its own concealed achievement tied to its in-game “true” name. You unlock each one by summoning the boss at its altar (or reaching it directly) and defeating it. The summon materials are dropped or found within each boss’s home biome.

The ElderLiving ForestSummon at the Black Forest altar with 3x Ancient Seed, then defeat it.

Death-triggered achievements

A few concealed achievements reward dying in very particular ways. These are worth planning around, especially the ones that ask you to die to every kind of tree, since that can take a while to complete naturally.

AchievementHow to trigger
The First of ManyDie for the first time and respawn.
Accidents HappenGet killed by a falling tree.
That Can’t Be an AccidentGet killed by every kind of tree in the game.
ObliteratedDie by standing too close to an explosion.

Note: “Accidents Happen” and “That Can’t Be an Accident” both require you to chop into a tree and let the trunk land on you. For the second one you need to repeat this with each tree type across the different biomes, so keep track of which ones you have already died to.

Crafting and exploration triggers

The rest of the hidden achievements come from specific crafting, sailing, and discovery milestones. Each one fires the moment you meet its condition.

AchievementHow to trigger
I Have Arrived!Enter the tenth world by landing at the Sacrificial Stones.
The Treasure HunterDiscover 10 buried treasure chests.
No Time for SnoozingAwaken a sea creature while out on the water.
The Legends Are TrueSail over the edge of the world.
The Chosen OneAssemble Dyrnwyn by crafting the Dyrnwyn Sword at a Level 4 Black Forge.

The Dyrnwyn Sword needs an upgraded forge and several late-game pieces. Bring the following to a Level 4 Black Forge to craft it and unlock “The Chosen One”:

  • 1x Dyrnwyn Hilt Fragment
  • 1x Dyrnwyn Blade Fragment
  • 1x Dyrnwyn Tip Fragment
  • 20x Flametal
  • 1x Bloodstone

How to confirm an achievement unlocked

When a trigger is met, the achievement pops immediately with the standard Steam notification and switches from “Concealed” to its full name and description on your list. If nothing appears, the most common cause is that the world has achievements disabled.

Using mods or console commands turns off achievements for that entire world, and this cannot be undone for that save. If you plan to chase the hidden achievements, keep a clean world with no console access and no mods loaded. As long as that holds, defeating a boss, dying to the right hazard, or finishing a craft will register the moment the condition is satisfied.
