WARDOGS: Best Items to Unlock for Every Role

The gadgets and support tools worth your permanent unlock cash first, plus how the buy system works.

The gadgets and support tools worth your permanent unlock cash first, plus how the buy system works.

Unlocks in WARDOGS pile up as you play, but the ones that matter are the gadgets that keep you alive, earn steady cash, and let your squad hold ground. Since classes are progression tracks rather than fixed loadouts, you can mix any of these items together once you own them.

Quick answer: Prioritize the Defibrillator and Medical Bag (Medic), the Infrared Range Finder (Recon), the Claymore and Remote Detonator for C4 (explosives), and the Heavy Drill (vehicle repair). These give the strongest mix of survivability, team support, and reliable cash income.

How item unlocks work in WARDOGS

Every gadget sits behind a class track. Leveling that track opens access to the item, but access alone does not put it in your hands. You then pay a one-time cash fee to buy the permanent right to purchase it, and after that you buy it again for its normal price each life at the vendor.

You know a permanent unlock worked when the item appears as a buyable option in the vendor menu instead of a locked tile. If you die, you spend cash to rebuild your loadout, so the goal is to own the items that pay for themselves.

Cash comes from kills, healing, reviving, spotting, building FOBs, transporting teammates, delivering supplies, and simply staying in the combat and hot zones. Spotting is the safest earner, which is why Recon gear is so valuable early.

Medical items: Defibrillator, Medical Bag, and IFAK

Medic gear is the most consistent money-maker because healing and reviving both pay out, and both are actions you can perform even on an off day for aim. The Defibrillator revives a downed ally far faster than a standard pickup, which cuts the window where you and your teammate are both exposed. It becomes available at Medic Level 11.

The Medical Bag is the Medic’s core tool. It heals you or an ally and speeds up revives, at the cost of being a heavy specialist commitment. For everyone who is not the dedicated squad medic, the Individual First Aid Kit is the smarter buy. It heals to full for $800 and weighs almost nothing, so a Recon player with a long rifle can still carry one.

ItemBuy costWeightJob
Bandage$200Small heal for minor chip damage
Individual First Aid Kit$8000.16 kgFull heal, quick slot, self or teammate
Medical Bag$2,0003.45 kgHeal over time plus faster revive
Defibrillator$1,600Rapid revive of a downed ally

Tip: Keep a $200 bandage for scratches and save the IFAK’s full heal for when a burst has left you one hit from the floor. Stacking three heal tools wastes vest space you need for ammo and smoke.

Recon: the Infrared Range Finder for safe cash

The Infrared Range Finder is the standout Recon tool. It spots infantry and enemy units and marks their positions on the map for your whole team. Because spotting pays cash and assist experience without putting your loadout at risk, you can lie in a safe position, mark targets through the lens, and let your squad do the killing.

This makes it the best budget-friendly way to stay useful when you cannot afford to lose an expensive kit. It is also the cleanest path to leveling Recon, since the basic sniper rifle is far riskier than steady spotting.

Explosives: Claymore and Remote Detonator

The Claymore is the low-risk way to punish infantry. Place it on a path or a doorway and wait for someone to walk into it, no exposure required. It is one of the most efficient tools for holding a lane on your own.

The Remote Detonator pairs with C4 so you can rig a spot, back off to a safe angle, and trigger the charge for heavy damage on your own timing. That control is what separates it from thrown explosives, letting you catch vehicles or grouped enemies exactly when they commit.

Vehicle: the Heavy Drill

A dead vehicle in the field is a liability. The Heavy Drill lets you manually repair your vehicle very quickly, so a truck you keep wrecking each round can be patched and put back to work. It draws from batteries, so carry spares if you plan to lean on it.

Which class tracks to level first

To open the widest set of useful items quickly, focus your first two tracks on Assault and Support. Assault is the simplest to progress, since kills with rifles, pistols, and grenades all feed it. Support is the deepest track, unlocking LMGs, shotguns, rocket and grenade launchers, mines, repair tools, and buildable FOB items, and you can level it through combat, repairing, and destroying vehicles.

TrackKey unlocksWhy level it
SupportLMGs, shotguns, launchers, mines, repair tools, FOB itemsMost varied kit for infantry, vehicles, and building
AssaultAssault rifles, attachments, frag grenadesEasiest to level for casual play
MedicSMGs, healing gear, smoke, faster revive toolsLevel safely by healing and reviving
ReconSniper rifles, DMRs, scopes, spotting toolsSpotting earns cash with little risk
Driver / PilotVehicles, helicopters, supply cases, cassettesLowest priority unless you focus on transport

Medic and Recon do not need dedicated grinding, since you can build both while playing Assault and Support. Driver and Pilot come last for most players, because you spend that time behind controls instead of leveling combat gear.

The through-line is simple. Spend your permanent unlock cash on the tools that keep you and your squad in the fight and generate income, then layer in weapons as your bank grows. A Defibrillator, an IFAK, an Infrared Range Finder, and a couple of well-placed explosives will do more for a new account than an expensive rifle you are afraid to lose.
