Update 44: Iceblade of Narin reworked Banshee and quietly turned her old Resonating Quake augment into something completely different. The mod is now called Gaseous Quake, and if you still had the old version sitting in your inventory, it was swapped over automatically when the update went live on September 23rd, 2026. Instead of the flat radial nuke it used to be, Gaseous Quake brings back the channeled version of her ultimate, wraps her in invincibility while she casts, and floods the area with scaling gas.

Quick answer: Run a high-Range, high-Strength Banshee with Gaseous Quake, Resonance, and Primed Flow, Helminth Brightbonnet onto her first ability, and channel Sound Quake in 12-second bursts synced to the Arcane Sculptor efficiency buff.

How Gaseous Quake works

Gaseous Quake converts Sound Quake into a channeled ability. While you hold it, Banshee is rooted in place and fully invulnerable, releasing one gas pulse per second in a circle around her. It only hits enemies that pass a line-of-sight check, which is the big difference from the reworked base Sound Quake.

The damage comes from two layers. Enemies inside the zone take a base amount of Gas damage per second that scales with Ability Strength, plus 1 to 5 gas status procs per hit depending on how close they are to the center. On top of that sits a damage multiplier that grows every single second you keep channeling. That multiplier is what makes the ability delete high-level enemies.

Stat (max rank)Value
Area of effect20 meters
Base Gas damage200 per second
Damage multiplier2.75x per second, up to 24,736x after 10s
Max base damage~4,947,171 per second
Zone lingers after channel6.25 seconds

The catch is energy. Casting starts at 100 Energy, then drains 16 Energy per second while channeling. That drain also ramps by 1.2x every second, stacking up to a 6.19x cap after 10 seconds, which pushes the cost to roughly 74.3 Energy per second at its peak. Reaching the full damage multiplier from a single cast costs about 614 Energy in total, so you cannot just hold the button forever the way old Banshee mains once did in endless defense.

One more detail worth knowing: enemies cap at 10 gas stacks, and any new hit overwrites the oldest stack. That matters because each fresh stack carries the higher multiplier your channel has reached, so the longer you hold, the harder every refreshed stack lands.

Where to get the mod

Gaseous Quake is a rare Banshee augment with a Zenurik polarity and a base drain of 6, rising to 9 at max rank. You buy it for 25,000 standing after reaching the rank of Genius with Cephalon Suda or Partner with The Perrin Sequence. If you owned Resonating Quake before Update 44, you already have it under the new name.

The Gaseous Quake nuke build

You can try to build around the energy problem with no Strength and heavy efficiency to channel for 20 to 25 seconds, but that route has too many moving parts to be reliable. The setup that holds up is a high-Strength, high-Range Banshee that pairs Gaseous Quake with Resonance, so you nuke when you need to and keep Sonar feeding itself the rest of the time.

For Arcanes, slot Molt Augmented and Arcane Sculptor. Sculptor is the piece that makes the whole loop possible, since it grants a burst of maximum Ability Efficiency that offsets the brutal channel cost. Primed Flow gives Banshee enough of an energy pool to reach the full multiplier even before efficiency and duration cut the price down.

Archon Shards

Use two Amber Shards for +50% Casting Speed. You cancel out of Quake constantly to reset its ramping cost, so faster casts make the build feel far smoother in practice.

Companion for Archon Stretch

Because the build runs Archon Stretch, you need a pet that can apply Electricity reliably. The two clean choices are Diriga with Arc Coil or any Hound running Synergized Prospectus. The Hound is the stronger pick, since it also throws out big Mecha set procs alongside the electric application.

How to play the nuke loop

Helminth Brightbonnet over Sonic Boom first. Brightbonnet triggers Arcane Sculptor, and that Sculptor buff is the engine that keeps your energy alive through the channel.

Build up energy before you commit. Casting Brightbonnet twice and bouncing on it for a moment should get you to roughly 400 Energy, which is plenty to start a channel cycle.

Find high ground with a clear view of the enemy entry points. In non-Defense tiles, that usually means the biggest open room you can reach. Since the ability needs line of sight, position decides how much of the room you actually delete.
Cast Brightbonnet to get 12 seconds of the Arcane Sculptor efficiency buff, then immediately channel Sound Quake for those same 12 seconds. The gas multiplier hits its ceiling after about 10 seconds of channeling, so you get a solid window of peak damage inside each cycle.

When the Sculptor buff ends, stop channeling, cast Brightbonnet again, and return to Quake. Refresh Sonar after it expires, and use Silence when an Acolyte is close to appearing.

The lingering zone keeps dealing damage for a few seconds after you release the button, holding whatever multiplier you reached, so you can start repositioning slightly before the gas fully fades.

When the build shines and where it falls short

You know it is working when whole rooms of high-level enemies drop inside a single channel window, and even tanky VIP targets like Acolytes fold in solo Steel Path survival. The invincibility during channeling means you can hold ground through waves that would otherwise punish a rooted frame.

The limitation is mission type. In fast, movement-heavy content like Void Cascade, being locked in place and dependent on line of sight makes Gaseous Quake awkward. For everyday runs there, a more mobile Banshee setup such as the Evade build fits better, and Gaseous Quake stays the pick for open, enemy-dense rooms where you can plant yourself and let the gas multiplier do the rest.
