The Mechanic's Ascent Mirror of Life in the Clock Tower in Castlevania: Belmont's Curse

Quick answer: In Mechanic’s Ascent, within the Clock Tower, a gold chest contains the Halberd, a Refined spear. Look for it in the gated alcove on the right side of the hooded-statue gallery, and drop down into it from above. The closest Mirror of Life is at Mechanic’s Ascent.

Where the Halberd is

Look for a gallery with a hooded statue standing between two candelabra. The Halberd’s alcove is just to the right of that gallery, a little above the floor, with large turning gears around it. A gate closes off the alcove’s right side, and a lever is mounted on its left wall.

If you’re clearing the whole district, there’s also a checklist of all items in the Clock Tower.

How to get into the alcove

Don’t try to walk in from the floor.

Inspect the gate along the alcove’s right edge. It begins shut, leaving the chest inaccessible from the room below.
Climb to the Western Maintenance Shaft, above Mechanic’s Ascent; chained stone crusher blocks mark the area. Look for a slim shaft lined with gears that descends directly toward the alcove.
Drop down the shaft. You land on the chest platform, right in front of the gold chest. Press E (Interact) to open it.

Once inside, you’ll find the lever beside the chest, mounted on the alcove’s left wall.

What the Halberd card says

Opening the chest brings up the HALBERD weapon card, which confirms you’ve picked it up. It’s a spear, one of the weapon families covered in how spears play.
