The quest marker appears near Horsehelm Village. Once the quest is tracked, ride to the oasis at the center of Jade Gate Pass and activate the Horsehelm Village Boundary Stone if you have not done that already.
A Wellspring of Hope quest route
Enter Horsehelm Village and approach the oasis. The scene shifts as you move in, and the large flower ahead pulls you into the next part of the quest.
Move through the camp sequence and interact with the waterskin at the marker. Speak through the dialogue until the option to sleep appears, which advances the quest to the next day.
Find Xiaosheng the next day near the wagon to the northeast. Use Cosmic Reversal on the damaged well, then descend carefully by landing on the platforms below.
How to get through the well and first cave section
At the bottom of the well, keep moving past the spike-shooting flowers and use Cosmic Reversal on the rubble blocking the path. The goal here is only to open the route forward.
Cross the broken bridge section by restoring it with Cosmic Reversal. Move quickly after the bridge returns, because it only stays usable for a short time.
Slide down the sandy tunnel and keep pushing deeper into the cave. Repair the damaged wooden structure with Cosmic Reversal so you can climb up and continue.
In the next lower area, bring up the lift with Cosmic Reversal and jump onto it. While you are exposed, block or avoid the spikes from the flowers around the pit.
At the top, clear the next rubble barrier and continue outside. Defeat the two skeletal flower enemies there, then lift the debris at the next entrance to open the passage.
The raised platform puzzle
In the room that looks like a dead end, stand on the broken wooden platform nearest the wall, close to the Cosmic Reversal prompt. This is the correct piece of wood for the lift sequence.
Use Cosmic Reversal while staying on the platform and stop when it reaches ledge height. If you keep the effect going too long, the platform rises past the safe point and can drop you.
How to finish the deeper cave path
Restore the collapsed ground with Cosmic Reversal and cross to the other side. Run past the silhouettes and head into the tunnel with bright fog.

Keep following the quest route until the collapsing platform fight begins. Defeat all enemies in that room before trying to move on.
After the fight, use Cosmic Reversal on the rubble to expose a hole in the ground. Drop down to return to a familiar lower section of the cave.
Rebuild the climbable structure again and move back through the lift area. Continue until the path sends you down another sandy slide.
Restore the oil lamp
Clear the last debris with Cosmic Reversal and move into the chamber with the large central rock formation. Climb the hanging rope to the top.
Sit in front of the two figures and wait for the dialogue scene to finish. The lamp interaction appears after that sequence ends.
Use Cosmic Reversal on the oil lamp and wait until you can pick it up. Once the lamp is in your hands, the quest has moved into its final stretch.
How the quest ends
Leave the cave through the passage ahead while carrying the oil lamp. On the way out, you will see scenes tied to Horsehelm Village and its struggle over water.
Meet Xiaosheng outside and finish the remaining dialogue. The quest ends after that conversation completes.
You will know it worked when the final talk with Xiaosheng ends and the quest closes out instead of sending you back into the cave.
