Where Winds Meet’s Ink of Dreams is a brief Wandering Tale contained within one building. Zhao Moshu, a scholar, is trying to reclaim a family painting from Pinemist Pavilion, the pawnshop in Wellspring Town, Qingzhou. Its keeper, Huang Shiyu, says the painting has already been “dealt with.” He has actually removed its mounting and thrown the canvas into the rear yard. Find it, get Huang to restore it, and return it to Zhao.
Quick answer: Trigger the argument at Pinemist Pavilion on Huang St. Grab the painting from the bushes behind the shop and submit it to Huang Shiyu. Then hand the remounted painting to Zhao Moshu on the terrace outside.
Where to start Ink of Dreams in Wellspring Town
In your journal, select Exploration, open Wandering Tales, and find Wellspring Town Part 3. The initial clue points to a scholar arguing with the shopkeeper inside Pinemist Pavilion.
Pinemist Pavilion, the pawnshop, stands on Huang St in southern Wellspring Town. Open the map and teleport to Wellspring Town, or use the Primary Hall teleport and walk the remaining short distance. The objectives are all at the shop, in its backyard, or on the stone terrace outside, making this a tale of just a few minutes.
Approach Pinemist Pavilion’s entrance and listen to Zhao Moshu. He says he pawned Summer Retreat at Wellspring, his family’s heirloom, because he had no other choice. He now has enough silver to redeem it, but Huang Shiyu tells him the redemption deadline passed three days earlier. Huang also won’t reveal the buyer’s identity.
Go inside and talk to Huang Shiyu. This opens a Submit menu that asks for an Unmounted Antique Painting, which you don’t have yet. Close the menu for now.
Inspect the Pinemist Pavilion Ledger atop the counter. If appraiser Wang Jindou is asleep beside it, open the time dial and advance to the Shen hour (15:00–17:00). After the clock moves ahead, he’ll be awake behind the counter.
Talk to Wang Jindou and choose the “Pawn…” option to ask about pawned goods. He also explains some art-trade jargon. Forged paintings need an old mounting to sell, which is why a genuine antique mounting is worth more to the shop than Zhao’s painting itself.
Leave through the front doors and follow the left side of the building around to the backyard near the water. Investigate the bushes next to the tree, the large rock, and the loaded cart to pick up the Unmounted Antique Painting. A “Wandering Tales – New Clue Acquired” notice appears when you do.
The order is flexible. You can grab the painting from the backyard before you trigger the argument, then go inside and confront Huang Shiyu right away.
Go back into Pinemist Pavilion and submit the painting to Huang Shiyu. He first pretends not to recognize it. Then you point out that the pawn term ran out only three days ago and the canvas was lying in his own backyard.
Talk to Huang Shiyu again to finish the confrontation. He agrees to have the painting remounted, and you receive New Edition: Summer Retreat at Wellspring.
Walk out onto the stone terrace in front of the shop, where Zhao Moshu is waiting. Talk to him and submit the restored painting. The tale ends when the dialogue finishes.
There are two items in the tale, each a version of the same painting. Both show the Seventy-Two Springs during summer.
