Spirits of the Lake is a short Wandering Tale in Where Winds Meet, filed under Jadestream Valley Part 4 in the Wandering Tales log. It runs on a simple loop: a drunk man named Qi Dali has dropped his wine gourd into the lake and refuses to swim after it because he is convinced a woman’s ghost is weeping out there. The whole quest is a round trip across the water and back, and it takes only a couple of minutes once you know where the boat is.
Quick answer: Talk to Qi Dali east of the Deepwave Works Boundary Stone, follow the water to Li Lanlu’s boat, take the Leather Wine Gourd, then return to Qi Dali and choose Give.
Spirits of the Lake location and unlock requirement
The tale sits in the Hidden Mountain-Suixiang area, on the water southeast of Mohist City. You cannot pick it up until you have finished the A Flourishing Legacy quest, so if Qi Dali is not on the shoreline, that prerequisite is the thing to check first.

The letter is the point of the whole tale. It is written by a daughter to her parents, apologizing for missing a visit while she studied, and promising to carry on their work building embankments and forging weirs. The crying Qi Dali heard was Li Lanlu mourning, not a spirit.

All three Spirits of the Lake clues
Three clue entries fill in as you work through the tale. All of them can be reread from the Wandering Tales Details screen.
- The opening note about a burly man sobbing by the lake outside Mohist City.
- The entry explaining that Qi Dali is too scared of the rumored lake ghost to fetch his gourd.
- A Partially Charred Letter, found on Li Lanlu’s boat.
Spirits of the Lake rewards
The payout below is the total for the tale, counting what you pick up along the way and what lands when the ending unlocks.
| Reward | Amount |
|---|---|
| Echo Jade | 30 |
| Hidden Mountain Exploration | 10 |
| Coin | 3,750 |
| Character EXP (Stored EXP) | 3,750 |

How to confirm the quest is complete
Handing over the gourd triggers a “Wandering Tales: Spirits of the Lake Ending Unlocked” banner, followed immediately by the reward summary. If that banner does not appear, the gourd was not submitted through the Give option.

For a permanent check, reopen the Wandering Tales tab. The entry should now read Spirits of the Lake [Completed] in the Jadestream Valley Part 4 list, with all three clues readable. That marker is the only confirmation you need before moving on to the rest of the Hidden Mountain tales.
