Windrose Catastrophe's Aftermath — Full Walkthrough and Rewards

Catastrophe's Aftermath is one of the more demanding Faction quests in Windrose, with a recommended character level of seven. It follows the events of the Underground Network quest and tasks you with helping the survivors of Tortuga, who are struggling with food shortages, illness, and one of Blackbeard's lackeys terrorizing the area. Completing every objective rewards 200 Piastre and 10 Letters of Favor — one of the largest single-quest reputation payouts in the Coastal Jungle region.

Quick answer: Retrieve supplies from a drowned-infested ship, deliver them to Charlie Sharpe, gather 15 Healing Herbs for Doctor Galen, return the medicine to Sharpe, then eliminate Jim Godart and report back.

Retrieving supplies from the ship

Sail to the ship marker on your map. The vessel is crawling with drowned — roughly five of them — and they will swarm you the moment you board. This encounter is widely regarded as one of the most frustrating early-game fights because the drowned respawn if you jump back to your own ship, and the tight quarters make it difficult to fight them all at once.

Several strategies work here. You can soften the enemies with your ship's cannons before boarding, which thins the group significantly. Alternatively, kiting them around the deck in a loop lets you pick off stragglers one at a time. If combat feels genuinely impossible at your current gear level, a more aggressive approach is to sprint below deck, grab the Provisions, and immediately flee. The quest will still progress even if you don't kill every enemy. Lowering the difficulty setting to Easy is another option if the encounter feels overtuned.

Delivering supplies to Charlie Sharpe

With the Provisions secured, head to the refugee camp and speak with Charlie Sharpe. He'll accept the supplies but explain that the survivors still need medicine for the sick. He directs you to Doctor Galen, who is back at your own camp.

Speaking with Doctor Galen and gathering Healing Herbs

Doctor Galen has a small emergency stash of medicine, but it isn't enough to treat everyone. He offers to craft a full Crate of Medicine if you bring him 15 Healing Herbs. These herbs are the same ones used to brew Healing Potions, so if you've been stockpiling them, you may already have enough.

If you need to farm them, Healing Herbs drop from Ancient Containers found in Ancient Ruins scattered across the Coastal Jungle islands. Enemies can also drop them, though the rate is inconsistent and entirely RNG-dependent. Budget extra time for this step — it's the most tedious part of the quest. Once you hand over all 15 bundles, Galen crafts the Crate of Medicine on the spot.

💡
Healing Herbs are also a notable loot item from Ancient Ruins. Prioritize exploring those locations over random enemy farming to collect them faster.

Returning medicine to Charlie Sharpe

Bring the Crate of Medicine back to Charlie Sharpe at the refugee camp. He thanks you and then reveals that Long Ben has passed along intelligence about one of Blackbeard's lackeys — a man named Jim Godart. Sharpe asks you to deal with him permanently.

Eliminating Jim Godart

Jim Godart's camp is the most combat-intensive section of Catastrophe's Aftermath. You won't face Godart alone; his crew includes standard Sailors, Sergeants, and two Grenadier bodyguards who lob grenades at range. Godart himself also uses ranged attacks, so standing still at a distance is a bad idea.

Despite the enemies being level eight — one level above the quest's recommended threshold — the fight is manageable with the right weapon. The Sturdy Halberd works well here thanks to its reach and damage output. Focus on clearing the regular crew members first, then deal with the Grenadiers. Godart has a surprisingly small HP pool, so once you isolate him from his bodyguards, he goes down quickly. Close the distance fast to interrupt his ranged attacks, or use dodge rolls to avoid incoming fire while you approach.

After Godart falls, you can optionally clear the rest of his camp for additional loot before heading back.

Completing the quest

Return to Charlie Sharpe one final time. He remarks that if the governor were still alive, he'd throw a feast in your honor — but the tangible rewards will have to do. You receive 200 Piastre and 10 Letters of Favor.

Why the rewards matter

The 10 Letters of Favor are the real prize. Each Letter is worth 10 reputation points with whichever faction you choose to turn them in to, totaling 100 faction reputation from a single quest. For comparison, reaching faction Level 2 requires only 100 points, meaning Catastrophe's Aftermath alone can push you to the next reputation tier if you're starting from scratch. Turn in your Letters at a Bounty Agent in Tortuga or at any faction Main Base you've discovered.

Piastre200N/A (currency)
Letter of Favor10100 points (10 per Letter)

Catastrophe's Aftermath sits in the Coastal Jungle's recommended side quest list alongside Glorious Hunters, Buccaneers, and Underground Network. Finishing it before moving on to the Foothills region gives you a meaningful reputation head start and enough Piastre to pick up useful gear from faction Provisioners. Make sure you've set up a Save Point before tackling the ship and Godart encounters — both fights can end runs quickly if you're caught off guard.
