Windrose Healing Potions — Every Recipe and How to Unlock Them

Combat in Windrose ramps up fast. Early encounters with boars and dodos might feel manageable, but enemies on later islands can shred your health bar in a couple of hits. Healing Potions are the most reliable way to stay alive, restoring large chunks of HP instantly rather than forcing you to wait out a slow regeneration. Getting your potion production running takes a few steps, though, so here's everything you need to do.

Quick answer: Build an Alchemy Table (unlocked by picking up your first Misty Orchid), craft Alchemical Base from a Clay Bottle and a Misty Orchid, then use that base to make a Minor Healing Potion at a 1:1 ratio. For stronger potions, combine Alchemical Base with Healing Herbs.

Bandages are fine in the opening hour when threats are sparse, but their healing stops the moment anything hits you. Potions work instantly, making them far more practical during actual fights.

Unlock the Alchemy Table with Misty Orchids

You cannot craft any potion until you discover the Misty Orchid, a glowing blue flower classified as a Key Discovery in the Coastal Jungle biome. These plants are almost never present on your starting island. Expect to find them once you sail to the second island you visit.

Misty Orchids are hard to miss once you know what to look for. They glow a vivid blue and emit a faint humming sound you can hear when you're nearby. They grow in clusters of five or six plants per spot and respawn quickly, so they're a renewable resource you can farm repeatedly.

💡
Misty Orchids are much easier to spot at night because of their bright glow and sparkle. Drop a map marker on every cluster you find so you can return during the day without searching.

Picking up your first Misty Orchid automatically unlocks several crafting and building recipes, including the Alchemy Table, the Stove and Pot upgrade, and the Minor Healing Potion recipe.

Build the Alchemy Table and Stove and Pot

Step 1: Open the building panel and place the Alchemy Table at your base. This is the station where all potion crafting happens. You will need Clay to build it, since the table requires a pot component made from Clay.

Step 2: Gather additional Clay to construct the Stove and Pot. This structure functions as a level-two upgrade for the Alchemy Table and unlocks stronger potion recipes. Clay deposits can be mined on most islands — look for pale, muddy outcrops along riverbanks and shorelines.

Craft Alchemical Base

Every healing potion in Windrose requires Alchemical Base as its core ingredient. You make it at the Alchemy Table by combining two items:

IngredientHow to get it
Clay BottleCrafted from Clay at the Alchemy Table
Misty OrchidHarvested from glowing blue flower clusters in the Coastal Jungle

The ratio is 1:1 — one Clay Bottle plus one Misty Orchid yields one Alchemical Base. Since Misty Orchids respawn, your bottleneck is usually Clay rather than flowers. Mine Clay whenever you see it and stockpile Clay Bottles early.

Brew Minor Healing Potions

With Alchemical Base in hand, open the Alchemy Table and select the Minor Healing Potion recipe. It costs exactly one Alchemical Base per potion, with no additional ingredients. When consumed, a Minor Healing Potion instantly restores roughly 35–40% of your total health — enough to swing a close fight back in your favor.

Minor Healing Potions are the most efficient option early on because they require no rare ingredients beyond what you already need for the Alchemical Base itself.

Craft Healing Potions and Great Healing Potions

Stronger potions add a second ingredient on top of the Alchemical Base. The key material is Healing Herbs, a red plant found at Ancient Ruins points of interest scattered across the islands. Unlike Misty Orchids, Healing Herbs do not grow wild in the open world. You'll find them inside unique chests and crates at ruin sites, so loot every container you come across.

Healing Potion recipe: 1× Alchemical Base + 3× Healing Herbs (alternatively, 1× Alchemical Base + 2× Undead Essence). Restores 55% of your health instantly.

Great Healing Potion recipe: 1× Alchemical Base + 3× Healing Herbs. Restores 75–80% of your health instantly. The exact recipe and unlock conditions for the Great variant may shift as the game receives updates.

⚠️
Healing Herbs are a limited, non-renewable resource found only at Ancient Ruins. Hover over ruin icons on your map to see how many chests remain unlooted. Prioritize these locations to build a stockpile before tackling tougher enemies.

Where to find healing items before you can craft

If you haven't unlocked the Alchemy Table yet, you can still pick up healing supplies by exploring points of interest. Chests at camps, ruins, and shipwrecks frequently contain Bandages, Minor Healing Potions, and occasionally Great Healing Potions. Hover over any POI icon on the map to check how many unique chests it holds, then clear every one before moving on.

Bandages can also be crafted at a basic Workbench from Coarse Fabric, which is made from Plant Fiber. Swing your sword at bushes and ferns to gather Plant Fiber in bulk — you'll accumulate hundreds within minutes of exploring any jungle area.

Tips for keeping a steady potion supply

Mark every Misty Orchid cluster on your map so you can loop back and harvest them between expeditions. The flowers respawn quickly, so a short farming route across two or three clusters can net you a dozen Orchids in a few minutes. Pair that with a healthy Clay reserve, and you'll never run short of Alchemical Base.

Use Bandages only when you're safe and out of combat, since any incoming damage cancels the healing-over-time effect. Save your potions for active fights where instant recovery matters most. A well-stocked inventory of five to ten Minor Healing Potions before tackling a new island or dungeon will keep you from losing progress to an unlucky enemy combo.
