Wolverine: How to Find Shiro’s Apartment Keypad Code in Bad Blood

The four-digit code hides on a bookshelf near the wardrobe, and here is how to read it correctly.

The four-digit code hides on a bookshelf near the wardrobe, and here is how to read it correctly.

During the Bad Blood mission in Japan, Logan and Jean Grey search Shiro’s apartment for his ties to The Hand. Tucked in front of a wardrobe is a keypad that blocks a hidden room, and the game does not simply hand you the number. The keypad carries several fingerprints, so guessing from smudges rarely works on the first try.

Quick answer: Read the code off the bookshelf in the next room. Four black manga volumes are pulled out of order, and their numbers form the four-digit code you enter on the keypad.

Why the fingerprints don’t give you the code

Most locks in the game can be cracked by sniffing out the fingerprints left on the pressed buttons. This one is different because the code was recently changed, leaving prints on several numbers. If you enter a wrong combination, Logan comments that the real code is probably hidden somewhere in the apartment, which points you toward the bookshelf.

How to find the keypad code on the bookshelf

From the keypad in front of the wardrobe, take the door on the right and move into the next room. You are looking for a bookshelf set against the wall.

Walk up to the shelf until the interact prompt appears and use it. Logan notes that some of the books are out of order, which is the clue you need.
Focus on the row of black manga volumes titled Agent Company. The red books above them sit neatly in sequence, but the black row is deliberately messy. Each spine carries a number.
Out of the nine books, four are pulled slightly forward from the rest. Read those four numbers in order across the shelf to get your four-digit code.

Ignore the neatly aligned volumes entirely. Only the books sticking out matter, and their left-to-right order is the order you type on the keypad.

The code and how to enter it

The four out-of-place volumes read as 1924. Return to the keypad by the wardrobe and punch in the digits in that order. Some playthroughs report the sequence as 1914, so if 1924 is rejected, check the exact spines on your shelf and try that arrangement instead.

How you know the code worked

A correct entry unlocks the wardrobe and opens Shiro’s hidden lair, where he stores his The Hand collectibles. Once Jean and Logan finish looking around, Shiro agrees to help you continue the search for Walter, and the mission moves forward from there.
