Wolves Across the Border is one of the first collection quests an Alliance character sees, and it sits right outside Northshire Abbey in Elwynn Forest. It is a level 2 quest that only requires level 1, it can be shared with other players, and both the pickup and the turn-in happen at the same NPC. The whole thing takes a few minutes once you know which wolves to hit.
Quick answer: Kill wolves in Northshire Valley until you collect 8 Tough Wolf Meat, then hand them to Eagan Peltskinner outside Northshire Abbey.
Wolves Across the Border requirements and quest giver
Eagan Peltskinner stands outside Northshire Abbey and handles both ends of the quest. He is the second step in a short chain that starts with the quest simply named Eagan Peltskinner, which Deputy Willem points you toward.
- Quest level 2, requires character level 1.
- Alliance only, and sharable with nearby players.
- Start and end at Eagan Peltskinner, outside Northshire Abbey.
- Everything takes place inside Elwynn Forest, in Northshire Valley.
- Completing it opens up the follow-up quest Milly Osworth.
You can pick this up without finishing the first step in the chain, but running the earlier quest first is free experience at a level where every point counts.

Loot here is personal rather than shared, so another player tagging wolves in the same patch of forest does not take drops away from you.
Turning in the quest and confirming it completed
Once the objective reads 8/8, walk back to Eagan Peltskinner outside the abbey. The exclamation-style question mark above his head turns gold when you have everything he asked for, and the quest text lets you hand the stack over immediately.
You will know it worked when the objectives disappear from your tracker and Eagan offers the follow-up quest, Milly Osworth. If the counter is still short, you are missing meat, not talking to the wrong NPC.
Objective differences between Classic and Wrath of the Lich King
The quest was reworked in the 3.3 era, and the version you are playing decides what you actually pick up off the corpses. The count stays at eight either way.
| Version | What you collect | What you kill |
|---|---|---|
| Classic | 8 Tough Wolf Meat | Timber Wolves, Young Wolves |
| Wrath of the Lich King | 8 Diseased Wolf Pelts | Diseased young wolves |
In the Wrath version, Eagan frames the job as culling a sickness spreading through the valley’s wolves rather than gathering food. That version pays out 170 experience and 250 reputation with Stormwind, plus your pick of Soft Fur-lined Shoes or Wolfskin Bracers.
Neither version asks for anything beyond the eight items, and neither sends you outside Elwynn Forest. If the meat or pelts are not dropping, keep clearing wolves in the same stretch of woods until the counter fills, then walk the short distance back to the abbey and close it out.
