Thunder Lizards are large, lightning-charged reptiles that show up across Azeroth, but for Horde players in the early levels of WoW Classic there is one reliable place to find them. They pack into Thunder Ridge, a narrow canyon carved into the hills of western Durotar, a short run from the gates of Orgrimmar.
Quick answer: In WoW Classic, go to Thunder Ridge, a canyon in western Durotar just south of Orgrimmar. Both Thunder Lizards and Lightning Hides (level 9–10 beasts) spawn there in numbers.
Thunder Ridge location in Durotar
Thunder Ridge sits directly south and southwest of Orgrimmar, tucked into the cliffs of western Durotar. It is a sunken gorge rather than an open plain, so on the zone map it reads as a small pocket of terrain below the city. The lizards stay inside that canyon, not on the ridgelines above it.
Getting to Thunder Ridge from Orgrimmar
Leave Orgrimmar heading south-west, run along the cliffs of Durotar, and drop down into the gorge marked Thunder Ridge on the zone map. Once you are on the canyon floor, the lizards will be roaming around you.
Which lizards spawn in Thunder Ridge
Two related creatures populate the canyon. Both are low-level beasts, so a character in the single-digit levels can clear them without much trouble.

What Thunder Lizards drop
The main reason to hunt this canyon is the Rough Lizard Hide, a quest item both creatures can carry. It comes off the corpse as ordinary loot, so you pick it up by looting the body after a kill rather than through the Skinning profession.
If you have Skinning, you can still skin the same corpses afterward for Light Leather and Ruined Leather Scraps, which sell for a small amount of early-game income. The Rough Lizard Hides you loot feed the WoW Classic Horde quest Beasts of Thunder Ridge from Karr Dunstrider in Orgrimmar, who wants 5 Rough Lizard Hides plus a Cured Light Hide that you can buy from the Orgrimmar Auction House or craft with Leatherworking. Other zones where thunder lizards appear
Thunder Ridge is the closest spot for Horde starters, but thunder lizards range across several regions. They favor canyons, plains, jungles, and forests, and they turn up at very different levels depending on the zone.

Higher-level players will also find thunder lizards well past the starting zones. In The Waking Shores on the Dragon Isles, the tameable Thunder Lizard is a level 70 beast, and named thunder lizards such as Owatanka in the Barrens and Stormspine in the Forbidden Reach appear as rare and elite spawns. For the WoW Classic Durotar hunt, though, Thunder Ridge remains the single easiest place to track them down.
