Pirate Cultist Encounter

In 99 Nights in the Forest, the 2026 Halloween event brings trick-or-treating to the Roblox survival experience. Forest cottages now sport pumpkin and cobweb decorations. Wolves and cultists can drop costume pieces. Candy is the event currency; spend it in the lobby on limited-time pets, a new class, and spooky camp furniture. Wear costume pieces when visiting a house at night, and it will turn them into Candy.

Quick answer: Use a Halloween Candle to light a decorated house, then knock after dark with costume pieces equipped. Each piece earns 1 Candy and is consumed; wearing a matching four-piece set earns 8.

Trick or Treat event dates

Trick or Treat Part 1 launched on October 17 at 17:00 UTC, with its official event period ending at October 24 at 12:00 UTC. Halloween activities remain available through October 31, 2026. Start a run during the event to access its content: there is no quest to activate it or lobby switch to flip. Helping Happy does not have to be completed first.

Happy’s Halloween shop marks some items with a clock icon. Those items are only sold during Halloween and disappear when it ends. That includes the Vampire Alpha Wolf, the Candy Corn Bunny, and the Fancy Dressed class.

How to trick or treat in 99 Nights in the Forest

Find costume pieces while playing a run. Grey, black, and alpha wolves may drop them, as may cultists. You can also find pieces inside Purple Costume Boxes near points of interest. Drops may appear in the opening minutes of Day 1.

Build a Costume Closet at camp. Buy its blueprint from the Crafting Bench menu, then build it for 3 logs. Every piece you pick up goes into the closet automatically. You’ll see a notice that reads “added [piece] to costume closet.”
Use the closet to equip costume pieces in its four slots: hat, shirt, pants, and accessory. Pieces from separate sets can be combined. Completing a set triggers a brief animation; the Pirate set finishes with a salute. A complete set also grants the buff described by the game as “mega luck and candy boost.”

Light a decorated house with a Halloween Candle. Candles come from chests, cultist drops, and cleared cultist events. Place one at the front of the house, and the lights inside turn on to show it’s active. You can do this during the day, and you need one Candle per house.
Wait for night, walk to the door, and press E to knock. If you knock in daylight, the door only answers “you need to come back when it’s dark!” At night, the resident pauses briefly to decide. Then a TREAT icon, a green smiling face, or a TRICK icon, a purple devil face, appears above the doorway.

The visit succeeded if a results breakdown appears and your Candy total increases. The house then enters cooldown. Knock again and you’ll see “you have already visited this house! wait for it to reset.” Houses become available again after a while, so you can return to the same one more than once during a long run.

The pieces you wear are spent on the knock and removed. Re-equip fresh pieces from the closet before the next house. Knocking with nothing on is a guaranteed Trick.

Candy payout per knock

Each equipped piece earns 1 Candy before any matching-set bonus is added.

Outfit at the doorCandy per knockExtra effect
No costume0Guaranteed Trick and debuff
Mismatched pieces1 per pieceNone
Partial match (e.g. 3 pieces, 2 matching)3 + 1 bonus = 4“luck and candy boost”
Four pieces, same set4 + 4 bonus = 8“mega luck and candy boost”

A full matching set is the only outfit that gives you a chance at rarer Treats, such as a pet frog. It also completes the Costuming badge. The Vampire Alpha Wolf costs 200 Candy, which works out to 25 full-set knocks.

Treats and Tricks at the door

A Treat may award Candy, extra costume pieces, furniture, or a temporary perk like Unlimited Ammo. Other possible Treats are several minutes without hunger or faster healing. Rewards are random, and no house promises a particular drop. Items found in Treats include:

  • Food: Carrot Cake, Pumpkin, Candy Corn, Cotton Candy, Candy Apple, Pumpkin Pie, Seasoning
  • Weapons: Laser Cannon, Raygun, Frozen Shurikens
  • Gear and utility: Frog Boots, Bandage, Fuel Canister
  • Other: Broken Radio, Broken Microwave, Basketball, 5 Mossy Coins

Tricks inflict temporary pranks. Each one ends by itself, though its effects can leave you vulnerable at night:

  • Ball and chain: an iron ball on your leg slows you down and stops normal jumps.
  • Frog curse: You turn into a tiny green frog, which prevents normal fighting and interaction.
  • Costume loss: All pieces currently worn are removed.
  • Other pranks: dropped carried items, a pumpkin covering your screen, being flung away, inverted controls.

The icon over the door can occasionally show the wrong result. Check the reward or effect you actually receive. Also be careful with the frog curse, because a cultist raid can reach camp while you’re too small to defend it.

All six Halloween costume sets

The event features six themed sets, with four pieces in each. Wearing every piece from a single theme is required for the 8-Candy payout.

SetPieces

DinosaurHood, Body, Tail, Feet
LobsterHead, Body, Claws, Legs
MummyHead Wraps, Wraps, Leg Wraps, Scarab Brooch
PirateHat, Shirt, Boots, Hook
WerewolfHood, Shirt, Tail, Legs

Grey, black, and alpha wolves, along with regular cultists, can drop costume pieces. Pirate gear is more likely from the pirate-themed cultist variant, while alien mobs near the crashed UFO may drop Astronaut pieces. Purple Costume Boxes and other chests can be found by cabins, ruins, crypts, the wishing well, and the stone castle. One box may contain pieces belonging to multiple sets.

A new run gives you an empty closet because costume pieces do not transfer between runs. Candy earned in earlier runs remains banked.

Trick or Treat houses and residents

Ten decorated houses are spread across the map. Each one has its own resident. They all work the same way, and the same Halloween Candle activates any of them.

House positions depend on your generated map, so there’s no fixed route. The Black House and Dark Red House often spawn close together. Light every house you pass during the day, then go from door to door after dark.

Fancy Dressed class perks

Fancy Dressed is the event class, sold as Fancy Dressed Clothes for 30 Candy. It’s a limited-time item. Its perks improve as it levels up.

LevelPerk
LVL 0Higher costume piece drop rate
LVL 1Higher chance of a Treat
LVL 2Extra Candy per knock

Reaching Level 2 takes two things. You need 50 Candy from trick-or-treating and 40 costume pieces found and stored.

Halloween shop prices

You spend Candy at Happy’s Halloween shop in the lobby. Talk to Happy the scarecrow and choose “Open shop.”

Buying one of everything costs 565 Candy. The Pile of Skulls has also shown up at 50 Candy in the in-game shop, so check the listed price before you buy. The Spooky Crock Pot is crafted at the Crafting Bench. It cooks Halloween food, such as Candy Apples, that gives you a speed boost. Standing Coffins are a purple and green pair that you collect from the Supply Crate in a run. The Vampire Alpha Wolf and Candy Corn Bunny are limited to the 2026 Halloween event.

Halloween 2026 badges

Three event badges pay Diamonds, and they’re earned in play rather than bought. You can check your progress in the lobby’s Quest/Badge menu.

BadgeHow to earn it
Candy CollectingCollect your first Candy
CarvingCarve a pumpkin at a carving table
CostumingTrick or treat in a full costume set

Carving and Costuming each pay Candy plus 2 Diamonds. Carving tables are found in cultist camps. Bring a harvested pumpkin, pick a face, and carve it. Completing the carve also unlocks the Jack-o’-Lantern blueprint.

Your Candy balance carries from run to run and survives death. Every knock with a complete set before Halloween ends contributes toward the 200-Candy wolf, regardless of how the run that earned it turns out.
