Champion is the hidden fighter in Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. Nearly the entire roster is available the moment you start the game, but this hard-hitting villain stays locked until you finish a specific slice of story content. He is also mechanically unusual, since he ignores the Assemble system that every other character relies on.
Quick answer: Play Episode Mode, select the Fighting Avengers Episode, complete all 11 chapters, and defeat both of Champion’s final forms. He unlocks immediately for use in every mode except Episode Mode.
The one requirement: finish the Fighting Avengers Episode
You do not need to clear every Episode in the game. Only the Fighting Avengers Episode matters for this unlock. Episodes are the game’s story mode, told through in-game fights, moving comic panels, and anime cutscenes, and each one runs about 90 minutes depending on your difficulty setting and comfort with the combat.
The Fighting Avengers Episode follows Captain America as he assembles Iron Man, Black Panther, and the Hulk to enter Champion’s tournament and protect Earth from destruction. Across the chapters you fight members of your own team, all four rival teams, the Promoter, and finally Champion himself.

Most of these matches are standard fights. You win by taking two rounds before your opponent does. The solo matches against your teammates and the four rival teams follow that normal rule, so the only unusual encounters are the Promoter and Champion.

The Promoter is a mini-game rather than a traditional duel. The goal is to build your Skill Gauge, not to knock out an opponent, and her shield sets the rhythm of the whole fight.
How many times you fight Champion
Champion is the real roadblock, and you face him three times in a row. Each battle is tougher than the last and hands him new, stronger tools. He hits extremely hard for a solo fighter and can erase a big chunk of your health in a single combo, so treat every phase with caution.
| Fight | What to expect |
|---|---|
| First encounter | Champion plays defensively until he drops to about 60 percent health, then turns aggressive and starts attacking hard. |
| Primordial form | Win two rounds. He is faster and more dangerous, with full combos, Counters, and Crossovers. |
| Awakened form | Win two rounds. Expect after-image teammates during Assemble attacks, projectiles, and two Supers. |

Block more than you normally would and avoid challenging him after every attack. Wait for a clear opening, save your Skill Gauge for confirmed combos or defensive escapes, and use assists to break his pressure when he corners you. When several after-images appear at once, hold off on pressing buttons blindly, since it becomes hard to read which attack is real. Lowering the difficulty setting also makes these boss fights more manageable.
When Champion unlocks and how to confirm it
Defeating both the Primordial and Awakened forms ends the chapter and unlocks Champion right away. From that point he is selectable in every game mode except Episode Mode. There is no separate purchase, and he counts as the 21st character on the roster.
If Champion is not showing up on your character select screen, the most common reason is an unfinished Episode. The unlock only fires after you clear the final Champion battles and complete the full Fighting Avengers run, so partial progress will not grant him.
How Champion plays once he’s yours
Champion is built for players who prefer a single powerful brawler over swapping between teammates. He does not use the standard Assemble mechanic, and he actively punishes you for leaning on it. Instead, his strength comes from grappling, poses, and heavy combos.
His core system is the Pride Gauge. Grappling opponents and posing fills it, and landing a Super lets him tap into his Awakened form. He is rated as a two-star character, which makes him one of the harder fighters to master, but he rewards a focused, one-character playstyle with big damage on anyone caught in his combos.
