Animal Hospital: How to Trigger the Dr. Harlow Secret Interaction

The Lore Expansion Update in Animal Hospital adds a hidden conversation with Dr. Harlow that only starts once you can reach his private office and you already hold Ratthew’s Golden Key. Two things gate it, and both must be in place before the interaction will begin.

Quick answer: Complete the Dr. Harlow Event to enter his office, then give him Ratthew’s Golden Key while he is seated at his desk. Handing over the key starts the secret interaction.

What you need before it will trigger

Both requirements below are mandatory. If either one is missing, the option to start the hidden conversation will not appear.

His office sits behind the No Access door next to the Shop. Before the Lore Expansion Update this area stayed closed, but you can now walk in after finishing a short sequence with Dr. Harlow.

Keep completing shifts and watch for Dr. Harlow to leave the hospital and speak with people from the Animal Corp. This happens across a few appearances rather than all at once.

After roughly two to three of these dialogues, Dr. Harlow becomes interactable while standing near the entrance with a few boxes on the floor. Interact with him at this point.

He asks you to pick up the boxes and follow him. Keep following until he leads you into his office. Once inside, the area stays available for you to look around.

Give Ratthew’s Golden Key to start the interaction

With the office unlocked and Dr. Harlow at his desk, give him Ratthew’s Golden Key. The moment he takes it, the secret interaction begins. If you do not have the key yet, you cannot start this conversation.

Continue the conversation with office items

After the interaction starts, you can extend it by picking up specific items around the office and showing them to Dr. Harlow. Each item pulls out more of the hidden dialogue.

How to confirm it worked and why it may fail

You know the trigger succeeded when Dr. Harlow accepts the Golden Key and the hidden dialogue plays instead of his usual lines. From there, presenting the book, the To-Do list, and the Testimony Reports each produces new responses.

If nothing happens, the cause is almost always one of two things. You have not finished the Dr. Harlow Event, so the office is still locked, or you are not carrying Ratthew’s Golden Key when you speak to him. Resolve whichever is missing and the interaction becomes available.
