Everything confirmed about Sonic’s super-speed Mythic, the new POI, and when the crossover reaches Chapter 7 Season 4 Override.

Sonic is officially racing into Fortnite. Epic Games teased the crossover on August 10, 2026, showing Peely blur across the map at super speed thanks to a new item called the Sonic Spin Dash Mythic. It is the first Gaming Legends collaboration locked in for Chapter 7 Season 4 Override, and it comes with a fresh point of interest built to match Sonic’s world.

Quick answer: The Sonic Spin Dash Mythic makes you sprint at supersonic speed with a glowing blue aura, letting you tear up and down slopes. It arrives alongside a new Sonic Green Hills Zone POI when Chapter 7 Season 4 Override launches on August 20, 2026.

What the Sonic Spin Dash Mythic does

The Spin Dash Mythic is a movement item. Once you activate it, your character starts running at super speed, and a blue aura wraps around them to show the effect is live. In the teaser, Peely uses it to sprint in tight circles and dart straight up and down a steep hill without sliding off, which points to strong momentum and grip while the Mythic is active.

The visual language is pulled straight from the source material, so if you know Sonic, you already know the pitch. Hold the speed, keep moving, and use the terrain to your advantage. Pairing it with vertical movement tools should let you cover ground far faster than a normal sprint.

Note: The exact duration, cooldown, and whether the dash cancels fall damage have not been detailed by Epic yet. Treat the fine mechanics as unconfirmed until the item goes live.

You can see the ability in motion in the reveal teaser below.

Sonic Green Hills Zone POI and the Rings

The steep slope shown in the teaser is part of a new location called the Sonic Green Hills Zone, which arrives with the crossover. It is a themed POI meant to give the Spin Dash Mythic a natural playground of curves and hills.

Gold Rings from the Sonic franchise appear along the track inside the zone. Collecting them looks tied to a reward of some kind, likely XP or a small boost, though Epic has not spelled out exactly what they grant.

When the Sonic crossover goes live

The crossover ships with Chapter 7 Season 4, officially titled Override. Epic confirmed the Override name and release date with a pixelated, glitch-style logo that leans into the season’s video game theme and the tagline “Break the rules. Change the game.”

As with every season change, there is usually some downtime between the end of one season and the start of the next. Expect a short gap before Override is playable.

Sonic skin and the rest of the Gaming Legends lineup

A Sonic the Hedgehog skin is part of the crossover, and the reveal’s SEGA-channel description (“Sonic, have you heard of a ‘Fortnite’?”) makes the character’s arrival clear. Sonic is not alone. Override is built as a broad Gaming Legends season, with several major franchises joining the Battle Pass and Item Shop.

Sonic and Eggman are the ones tied directly to Fortnite’s confirmed teaser material, while Joker from Persona 5 is widely expected in the pass. Not every listed franchise is guaranteed a full character skin. Something like Tetris may show up as themed cosmetics or gameplay content rather than a wearable outfit.

With the crossover now teased and the Override start date set, expect more reveals to roll out through the week ahead of the August 20 launch. The Spin Dash Mythic and Green Hills Zone are the headline additions to watch when the season goes live.
