Waterpark Simulator: How to Complete Spread Love With the Watergun

Unlock the water gun at one Star, spray visitors for positive reactions, and know why the counter sometimes refuses to move.

Unlock the water gun at one Star, spray visitors for positive reactions, and know why the counter sometimes refuses to move.

Spread Love With the Watergun is a progression objective in Waterpark Simulator that asks you to soak visitors until they react positively. It sits on the road to your second Star, and it uses the water gun tool you unlock through research. The task confuses a lot of players because spraying people seems to do nothing at first, and on some platforms the counter is currently bugged.

Quick answer: Equip the water gun and keep spraying individual visitors until each one shows a positive reaction. Get that reaction from 10 different visitors to clear the objective. If nothing counts, target visitors with an angry emoticon above their head.

Unlock the water gun first (one Star required)

The water gun is not in your inventory when you finish the tutorial. You have to research it, and that research only opens once your park reaches one Star.

Grow your park to one Star by handling routine work such as cleaning buildings and selling hot dogs. Those same tasks also hand you the Research Point you will need.
Walk up to the Research Table and press E to open it. The water gun is listed in the Attractions section, sitting after the Hot Dog Stand.
Spend one Research Point to unlock the water gun, then pick it up from the board to the left of the table. Once it is in hand, you can start spraying visitors.

Spray visitors until 10 react positively

The objective counts a visitor only after they show a positive reaction to being sprayed. A single quick squirt is rarely enough, so you need to hold the spray on the same person for a while.

Equip the water gun and aim it at a guest. Keep spraying that guest for several seconds rather than tapping and moving on.

Aim the water gun at guests and hold the spray until a reaction appears.
Watch for the reaction. Some guests love it and will leave a tip, which is your confirmation that the spray landed as a positive. Others dislike it and may complain in the end-of-day reviews, so those do not count.
Repeat on new guests until 10 of them have reacted positively. The objective updates its counter each time a positive reaction registers, and it completes at 10.

There is no reliable way to tell in advance who will enjoy the water and who will file a complaint. The Tablet has a Visitor Thoughts panel under the Park tab that shows what individual guests are thinking, which can give you a lead on who to target.

If the counter refuses to move

Two things commonly stall this task. One is spraying too briefly to trigger a reaction. The other is a genuine bug that affects a portion of players, especially on console.

A common workaround is to spray angry visitors instead of calm ones. You can spot them by the angry emoticon floating above their heads, and turning an angry guest happy tends to register more reliably. If you cannot find any, letting your park slip a little will produce more upset guests, though that trades progress elsewhere.

Difficulty also matters. Some players who were stuck on Normal reported the objective completing after switching to Easy. Keep in mind that Easy voids achievements that require Normal or Hard, so use it only to clear a stuck objective, not on a run you care about for trophies.

Note: On PlayStation the task is confirmed broken for many players, and the developers are aware of it. A fix depends on a patch being approved and released, so if none of the methods above budge the counter, the cause is likely the bug rather than anything you are doing wrong.

How you know it worked

Completion shows up as the objective ticking off in your task tracker once 10 visitors have reacted positively, which also moves you along the path toward your second Star. Spread Love With the Watergun is a progression objective with its own counter, not a Steam or trophy achievement, so do not go hunting for a matching unlock in the achievement list. Once the counter reads 10 of 10 and the task clears, you are done with it.
