Genshin Impact: How to Solve the House of the Soulless Secret Room Puzzle

The secret room puzzle in the House of the Soulless quest asks you to cast statue shadows across the paintings on the wall. Get it right and a hidden cellar opens, holding the first fragment of Ikhor that ends the quest and pushes you into Procrustes’ Iron Bed.

Quick answer: Remove the statue already in place, grab the Snegurochka Statue I blueprint, and set statues in slots 1 (top-left) and 5 (center). After the hidden room opens, take the Snegurochka Statue II blueprint and put that sword statue in slot 9 (bottom-right) to reveal the cellar.

Reach the guarded room

The quest starts at a marked point inside the House of Hesperides. The room you need is guarded on its front side, so you approach it from above and drop in from the back.

Teleport to the Waypoint by the entrance of the House of Hesperides mansion. This drops you right at the start of the route.

Take the stairs to the left and immediately go through the door on the left. The room to the right is guarded, so keep away from it for now.

Walk up the stairs on the left side. This leads you into an open area above the guarded room.

Follow the path to the right until you find a way down. Glide down and enter the room that was blocked from the front. You are now inside from the opposite side.

Investigate the room until a cat appears. The cat walks you over to a vase. Check the vase again, and a secret room with the statue puzzle opens up.

How the shadow statue puzzle works

The goal is simple to describe and precise to execute. Each statue you place casts a shadow, and that shadow has to fall over the white section of the paintings on the wall. Slots are arranged in a numbered grid, so the fix comes down to putting the right statue in the right numbered slot.

The grid runs 1 to 9. Slot 1 is top-left, slot 5 is the center, and slot 9 is bottom-right, which is all you need to know to follow the placements below.

First placement: open the hidden room

Remove the statue that is already sitting in the puzzle. Clearing it lets you set the correct pieces from scratch.

Pick up the Temporary Blueprint of Snegurochka Statue I in the corner of the room. This is the statue with a creature in its hands.

Place the statue in slot 1 (top-left) and slot 5 (center-middle). With both shadows falling on the white sections, the cat returns and trips a mechanism on a painting, opening another room.

Second placement: reveal the cellar

Go into the newly opened room and collect the Temporary Blueprint of Snegurochka Statue II. This one holds a sword. A Remarkable Chest and a Collectible Painting are also waiting inside, so grab both while you are there.

Place the sword statue in slot 9 (bottom-right). Its shadow needs to reach across two paintings at once, which is what finishes the puzzle.

How you know it worked and what you get

Solving the puzzle opens a path to a secret cellar. Head down into it to recover the first Ikhor fragment, which is the objective that closes out House of the Soulless. A Precious Chest sits in the cellar as well, so claim it before you leave.

Once the fragment is in hand, the quest completes and you also make progress in the Procrustes’ Iron Bed quest, which continues the Hesperides of Love and Hate storyline. If the cellar path does not appear, check that the sword statue is in slot 9 and that each shadow is landing on a white section rather than beside it.
