Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Take-Two Interactive, has settled the question fans started asking after he turned up as a playable character in WWE 2K26. He will not be in Grand Theft Auto VI. When asked directly whether players would run into him somewhere in Vice City, his answer was short and blunt.

Quick answer: No. Zelnick has confirmed he will not feature as a playable character or cameo in GTA 6. His WWE 2K26 appearance was a one-off that he personally requested.

Why Zelnick showed up in WWE 2K26

The cameo did not come from a fan campaign or a marketing plan. Zelnick asked for it himself. He went to the soundstage, recorded motion capture, and the team built him into the wrestling roster because he thought it would be a fun thing to do.

How did it come about? I asked. I wish I could say that there was huge popular demand internally and externally, but that would be a lie. I asked, and then I went on the soundstage, and I did motion capture, and we all had fun with it.

He described himself as a WWE fan and said he expected the appearance to land as a joke for insiders and maybe a few players. Plenty of people did play it. The reaction online, though, was mostly confusion, which Zelnick admitted he probably deserved.

Could Rockstar still parody him?

Zelnick himself is out. That does not fully close the door on his likeness turning up in some other form. Rockstar has a long history of building fictional versions of real public figures into its world, and GTA 6 leans hard into invented brands and characters rather than real ones. So a background gag or a lightly disguised stand-in remains possible, even if the CEO has no plans to voice or perform one.

That same approach shapes the whole game. Everything inside GTA 6’s world is fictional, from the companies to the apps, which is how Rockstar keeps creative control and avoids brand deals. Zelnick has framed this as staying true to the material rather than chasing partnerships.

Zelnick cameoConfirmed not appearing

The game is set for November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, with a detailed extended look planned for Netflix on August 27. If any familiar faces are going to surface, that showing is the most likely place to spot them.

For now, the takeaway is simple. The man who runs the company will not be a character in its biggest game, and the far more interesting question is which returning faces from past entries, in a story set in Vice City, might actually make the cut.
