Genshin Impact Bandersnatch Local Legend: How to Beat It and Get All Achievements

Force the owl into its Giant state, interrupt the energy blast with Stellar reactions, and land the finishing blow in Miniature form.

Force the owl into its Giant state, interrupt the energy blast with Stellar reactions, and land the finishing blow in Miniature form.

The Bandersnatch is one of three Local Legends tied to the Snezhnaya content in Genshin Impact 7.0, and you first meet it as a scripted fight during the Everwinter Without Mercy Archon Quest. That early version is a pushover. The real challenge comes when you return to its arena as a proper Local Legend, where it hits far harder and gates three separate achievements behind specific conditions.

Quick answer: Bring at least one Electro character to force the boss into its Giant state, use a Stellar reaction to interrupt its Super Energy Blast, then drop it to roughly 10% HP and land the killing blow while it is back in its Miniature state.

Bandersnatch Local Legend location in Snezhnaya

Bandersnatch waits in the underground area of Svetloledovka, inside the Caverns of Prime Ice. This is the same cave where you rescue the trapped miners during the Great Deeds in the Tundra sub-quest, and it is where you first encounter Odette. If you finished that stretch of the Archon Quest, the boss is already marked in the Valiant Chronicles menu.

The fastest route is the underground Teleport Waypoint in the Svetloledovka mining town. Warp in and the arena is only a short glide and run away, with the boss visible as soon as you arrive.

If you have not unlocked that underground waypoint yet, travel to the town of Svetloledovka on the surface and enter the mines through the same passage the quest walked you through.

How the two-state mechanic works

Bandersnatch, listed in combat as a Grounded Snowhawk, swaps between two forms during the fight. It always begins in the small, elusive Miniature state and only becomes vulnerable once you push it into its Giant state. Everything about the fight revolves around managing that switch.

StateBehaviorWhat to do
MiniatureTakes reduced damage, burrows underground, and can sneak up on you. Its hits still land hard.Apply continuous Electro to fill the gauge under its HP bar and force the transition.
GiantMuch faster and more aggressive, but takes far more damage. Can charge the Super Energy Blast.Deal your heaviest damage, and be ready to interrupt the blast with a Stellar reaction.

The gauge beneath the health bar fills as you land Electro hits.

Note: The circular gauge directly under the health bar tracks Electro application. Once it fills, the boss enlarges and stays in its Giant state for a set period before shrinking again.

Interrupting the Super Energy Blast

While in its Giant state, Bandersnatch periodically channels a large orb near its mouth that grows over roughly six seconds. If the orb finishes charging, it fires the Super Energy Blast, which can one-shot your active character.

You interrupt it by triggering a Stellar reaction during the channel. A successful interrupt knocks the boss out of its Giant form immediately and leaves it stunned for a few seconds. This is both a survival tool and the exact condition behind one of the achievements, so aim to interrupt every blast you see.

All three Bandersnatch achievements and how to clear them together

There is no strict DPS check or timer, so a single well-managed run can complete all three objectives. Each one rewards 20 Primogems and 25,000 Mora.

ObjectiveReward
Defeat Local Legend, Bandersnatch.20 Primogems, 25,000 Mora
Interrupt the super energy blast while he is in his Giant state.20 Primogems, 25,000 Mora
Defeat Bandersnatch when he is in a Miniature state.20 Primogems, 25,000 Mora
Open the fight by stacking Electro on the boss to fill the gauge and push it into its Giant state. The first two achievements flow naturally from here, so there is no need to rush.
When the Giant charges its orb, land a Stellar reaction before the six-second window closes to interrupt the Super Energy Blast. That single interrupt clears the second achievement and stuns the boss for follow-up damage.
Bandersnatch Local Legend battle in the icy Snezhnaya cavern
Whittle its health down to around 10% while it is Giant, then stop pushing and wait for it to shrink back to its Miniature state. Once it is small, switch to non-Electro attacks only, so you do not accidentally trigger another transition, and finish it off. Killing it in Miniature form clears the third achievement, and the kill itself completes the first.

You will know each objective landed when the challenge counter ticks over in the Valiant Chronicles menu. The most common failure is triggering a transition at the wrong moment. Applying Electro after the boss has returned to Miniature will pull it back into Giant form and cost you the final kill condition, so hold off on any Electro skill or attack during that closing window.

Best teams for Bandersnatch

The fight has no elemental restriction beyond one requirement, and that is at least one Electro character who can apply the element consistently to fill the transition gauge. A Stellar reaction source matters too, since it is what interrupts the blast. Beyond that, bring whatever does the most damage.

TeamMembers
Sandrone ElectroSandrone, Odette, Yae Miko, Alyosha
Flins coreFlins, Columbina, Ineffa, Kokomi
Cyno lineupCyno, Odette, Qiqi, Yae Miko
Varesa lineupVaresa, Iansan, Xianyun, Nicole

A Sandrone team paired with Yae Miko is the smoothest option if you own both, since it keeps steady Electro on the boss and pushes it into Giant state quickly. Even a Cryo Traveler with four-star weapons can clear the fight, so a fully invested roster is not required. Once all three achievements are done, the boss respawns after the next server reset if you want to farm it again.
