The four Pufferfish quests
After the riddles, Dr. Monty hands out four quests in sequence. Every objective involves catching and returning Pufferfish variants, and the difficulty ramps up sharply as you progress.
Quest 1: Pufferfish Abroad
Catch and return 10 each of the following: Pufferfish, Flying Pufferfish, Blight Pufferfish, Pufferflute, Pyrite Pufferfish, Carrot Pufferfish, and Mustard.
Quest 2: Collect My Pufferfish
Perfect Catch and return 10 each of these variants: Wrath, Rotting, Exploded, Lost, Celestial, Sanguine, Crystalized, Heavenly, Sunken, Greedy, Bellona’s Fury, Mastered, Sandy, Rainbow Cluster, Honey, Solarblaze, Siren’s Spite, Hexed, Toxic, Brined, Mythical, Withered, Atlantean, Lunar, and Lucid Pufferfish.
Note: Once you clear this list and talk to Dr. Monty again, you must wait five real-world hours before the next quest unlocks.

Quest 4: 500 Pufferfish
The final task is a single, large objective. Perfect Catch and return 500 Pufferfish using the Restricted Halibut Harpoon. Clearing this hands over the fully unlocked equipment.

You know the process worked once the final quest completes and Dr. Monty rewards you with the Halibut Harpoon. From there, open your Equipment Bag and check the fishing equipment section to equip it like any other rod.
Two common holdups slow players down. Quest 2 will not advance until the mandatory five-hour real-time wait passes, so returning too early does nothing. And the objectives that specify Perfect Catch will not count a standard catch, so watch the catch timing on those variants. Plan the grind around the rarer Pufferfish types, since a few of them are the real bottleneck rather than the bulk 10-count entries.
