The Alien Event in Storage Hunters: Open World turns the usual auction grind into a coin race. Instead of chasing raw net worth, you are hunting for a specific green alien mutation, then selling those items for Alien coins. The same loop also fills the 27-item Alien Collection index, so one efficient farming pass covers both goals.
Quick answer: Buy and drink all three luck potions from the Alien Market Trader (including the Alien Luck Potion) to raise the mutation rate from 4.5% to 9.5%, win auction items that spawn with the green alien mutation, then sell those mutated items at the Alien Market to earn Alien coins.

What the Alien Event includes
The event runs for roughly two weeks and adds dedicated Alien Garages, an Alien Market, and a set of alien-themed NPCs. Event items are cosmetic in the sense that they carry no secondary functions or their own mutations, so their only real purpose is being sold for coins and logged in the collection.
Two NPCs matter most. The Alien Market Trader stocks the potions you need, and the Alien Boss tracks your progress toward the 27-item Alien Collection. A green alien NPC named Rick buys tails for 4 to 5 Alien coins each, giving you a steady side income while you farm.

Coins come almost entirely from selling items that carry the green alien mutation. Everything else in your run should serve that single outcome, so start by stacking luck before you touch an auction.

Note: The Alien Market also stocks other consumables such as the Unlimited Bag Potion, Auction Rush Potion, Faster Grading Potion, Alien Customers Potion, Free Grade Re-roll Potion, and Mutator Extractor Potion. These support the loop but the three luck potions are the priority for raising mutation odds.

Alien Garage entry costs and net worth gates
Auction item pools scale with your unlocked net worth, and higher net worth opens advanced areas such as the beach along with their items in the event auctions. Each Alien Garage tier has both an entry fee and a net worth requirement.
| Garage | Entry fee | Net worth to enter |
|---|---|---|
| Alien Garage 1 | $8.00 | $2,000 |
| Alien Garage 2 | $18.00 | $20,000 |
| Alien Garage 3 | $65.00 | $250,000 |
| Alien Garage 4 | $250.00 | $2,000,000 |
Higher tiers cost more to enter but pull from stronger item pools, so pick the highest garage your net worth allows and keep enough cash on hand for strong bids. Winning bids can reach into the thousands, so do not empty your balance on weak lots before a mutated item appears.
Moonlit Event overlap
A Moonlit Event can start while you farm, shown by the “MOONLIT EVENT HAS STARTED” notification. During it, the game asks you to find [Moonlit] and [Firefly] mutators in auctions until dawn. If it triggers mid-session, keep hunting auctions as normal since those mutators appear in the same lots you are already opening.
Completing the 27-item Alien Collection
Talk to the Alien Boss NPC to open the Alien Collection screen, which shows your count in a “found” format such as 25 / 27. Each unique alien item you win and register counts once toward the total, so duplicates only help your coin balance, not the index.
The full 27-item Alien Collection covers the following pieces:
- Green Doodle Alien
- Red Doodle Alien
- 8 Bit Alien
- Spilled Alien Liquid
- Anti Alien Neon Sign
- Alien Skull
- Alien Dog Plushy
- Alien Beanie
- Alien Tentacle
- Crawling Alien
- Experimental Alien
- Bob The Invader
- Alien Editable Sign
- Abducter Alien
- Alien Auctioneer
- Egg Shaped UFO
- Futuristic Desk
- Slime Invader
- Alien Scorpion
- Future Beam
- Alien Backpack
- UFO Fedora
- Alien Hoverboard
- Alien Jetpack
- Alien Storage Box
UFO cars are also available to buy from the market area if you want the full set of alien-themed gear beyond the collection items.

How to confirm it worked
You know a farming run paid off when the Alien Market sale returns Alien coins for each mutated item, and Rick pays out per tail you hand over. For the index, reopen the Alien Collection screen at the Alien Boss after registering a new item and check that the “found” count has ticked up. When it reads 27 / 27, the collection is complete.
If coins are not coming in, the usual cause is selling plain items that never rolled the green alien mutation, or skipping the Alien Luck Potion so your mutation rate stays at 4.5% instead of 9.5%. Keep all three luck potions active, target the highest garage your net worth unlocks, and sell only mutated finds to keep the loop moving.
