The final round-based Zombies map lands with Season 5 Reloaded, with global launch times, preload details, and everything shipping alongside it.

Rex Infernus is the last round-based Zombies map Treyarch is making for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, and it closes out the Warden storyline that has run through the game’s Zombies maps all year. It arrives as part of the Season 5 Reloaded update, not as a standalone download.

Quick answer: Rex Infernus goes live Thursday, August 20 at 9AM PT / 4PM UTC, alongside the Season 5 Reloaded title update. You must install that update before you can launch Black Ops 7 or Warzone.

Release time: Thursday, August 20, 2026 at 9:00 AM PT / 4:00 PM UTC

Status: Confirmed for August 20

The date and time are locked in. Season 5 Reloaded unlocks simultaneously worldwide, which means the map does not roll out region by region — everyone gets it at the same moment, just displayed differently on the clock depending on where you live.

Preload the Season 5 Reloaded update first

Because this is a title update rather than an in-game unlock, the download is mandatory. Skip the preload and you will be sitting in a queue while everyone else is already in the map.

Check your free storage before anything else. Seasonal updates on this engine are large, and running both Black Ops 7 and Warzone means pulling significantly more data.
Start the preload when it opens during the week of launch, beginning Monday. Battle.net gets it first, with other platforms following.
Confirm the install finished before 9AM PT on Thursday. If the update is still downloading at launch time, neither Black Ops 7 nor Warzone will boot.

You will know the map is live when Rex Infernus appears in the Zombies map select screen after the update is installed. If it does not show up, restart the game client — the storefront and menu tiles sometimes need a fresh boot to refresh.

What ships with Rex Infernus

The map itself carries the finale of the Zombies narrative, with the Warden’s corruption at the center of it. Completing the main quest awards the Bloodthorn Wonder Weapon Skin, a Calling Card, and 10,000 XP.

AdditionDetails
New Wonder WeaponA dual-wield crossbow crafted through its own side quest. The name stays hidden until launch day.
Legacy Ultra Rarity weaponsOlympia Shotgun and TR2 Marksman Rifle, both pulled from the Mystery Box.
New zombie typeDeathspinners, appearing in both standard and Special Rounds.
Elite enemyThe Web Mother, a spider-like fight exclusive to Rex Infernus.
Titan TrapLure enemies to a massive Apothicon statue that crushes them with its fist. It can damage you too.
GrapplerA Zombies-themed traversal tool for swinging across the map quickly.

Note: the Titan Trap does not distinguish between you and the horde. Trigger it and step clear.

Zombies additions that apply across every map

Several Season 5 Reloaded items are not locked to Rex Infernus. Widow’s Wine returns as a Perk-a-Cola with its own Augments, and the Fully Packed GobbleGum upgrades your current weapon straight to Pack-a-Punch Tier III. The Mace melee weapon arrives too, alongside the RK-9 Calibrated Strike System and Peacekeeper MK1 Gauss Accelerator attachments.

New Pack-a-Punch and Cursed Pack-a-Punch camos are tied specifically to Rex Infernus, so you have to play the map to earn them even though they apply everywhere afterward. The Last Call Event Pass also opens up, unlocking Operator Skins and other rewards through XP earned in either Black Ops 7 or Warzone.

Why this is the last round-based map

Rex Infernus is the final round-based Zombies map in Black Ops 7. Season 6 is expected to front-load its content at launch rather than run a mid-season drop, which leaves room for a Survival map but not another full round-based build. With Modern Warfare 4 taking over in October and shipping without a Zombies mode, this is realistically the last brand-new round-based Zombies experience until Treyarch’s next title.

If you want to be ready on day one, the useful prep is already live. Kowakujō has Directed Mode with on-screen quest steps, the Eidskallen Lighthouse Survival map hands out GobbleGums at round milestones, and the Astra Malorum Rogue Run playlists carry permanent unlocks between difficulties. All three put you in a better position when the Warden fight opens up.
