Wuthering Waves: Best Qingxiao Build for Echoes, Weapons, and Teams

Everything needed to gear the Aero sword carry, from her Heart of Evil's Purge set to the Tune Strain partners that make her rotation work.

Everything needed to gear the Aero sword carry, from her Heart of Evil’s Purge set to the Tune Strain partners that make her rotation work.

Qingxiao is the Aero sword main DPS introduced in version 3.6 of Wuthering Waves, and she does not work like a plug-and-play carry. Her damage lives inside the Tunability system, which means her numbers rise or fall depending on whether the rest of your team can keep Tune Strain applied. Gear her correctly and she is one of the strongest on-field damage dealers available. Gear her in isolation and she underperforms.

Quick answer: Run the 5-piece Heart of Evil’s Purge set with Calamity Effigy in the main Echo slot, equip Glint of Clouds (or Emerald of Genesis for free-to-play), and pair her with a Tune Strain applier such as Denia or Lynae plus Mornye.

Why Qingxiao needs Tune Strain to function

Almost every meaningful buff in her build is gated behind Tune Strain – Shifting being inflicted on an enemy. Her Echo set bonus, her signature weapon stacks, and her main Echo’s damage bonus all key off that status. She can apply it herself, but her buildup is slow without help, which is why teammates who apply it constantly are treated as mandatory rather than optional.

The practical consequence is simple. If you drop her into a team with no Tune Strain applier, her damage falls off sharply even with perfect Echo rolls. Build the team first, then the character.

Best Echo set for Qingxiao: Heart of Evil’s Purge

Heart of Evil’s Purge is her dedicated Sonata Effect and there is no close competitor. You farm it from the Echo Reverberation Zones scattered across the Land of Mengzhou. The 2-piece bonus alone gives 10 percent Aero Damage, but the full set is where the payoff sits.

With all five pieces equipped, every application of Tune Strain – Shifting grants her 30 percent Aero Damage and 20 percent Crit Damage for 15 seconds. Because her normal rotation applies the status on its own, that window is live before she enters her burst state, assuming your rotation is clean.

Echo main stats and substats

Her Echo layout follows the standard 4-3-3-1-1 cost arrangement. The one judgment call is the 4-cost slot, which depends on your weapon. Glint of Clouds comes with a large Crit Rate secondary stat, so a Crit DMG 4-cost is usually the better pick. Without a Crit Rate weapon, run Crit Rate until her ratio evens out.

Cost 4Crit. Rate or Crit. DMG

For substats, chase Crit Rate and Crit DMG first, then ATK%, then Heavy Attack DMG and Energy Regen. Keep enough Energy Regen that her Resonance Liberation comes up every rotation without stalling, then dump everything else into Crit.

Calamity Effigy is her main Echo slot

Calamity Effigy is a boss added alongside version 3.6, and it is the only sensible pick for her 4-cost main slot. It hands her an Aero Damage Bonus by default, and that bonus scales up further when she inflicts Tune Shift – Strain on enemies. There is no meaningful alternative unless you have abandoned Heart of Evil’s Purge entirely for a different Sonata set, which is not a build most players should be attempting.

Weapon ranking for Qingxiao

Glint of Clouds is her signature sword and the clear best-in-slot. It provides 12 percent ATK flat, then layers an Aero Damage buff each time she applies Tune Shift – Strain, stacking up to five times. Hitting max stacks does two things at once. The Aero Damage Bonus duration extends, and her attacks begin ignoring a portion of the target’s DEF, which is where a lot of her ceiling comes from against high-defense bosses.

Emerald of Genesis is the free-to-play answer. It gives Energy Regen and buffs her attack whenever she casts a Resonance Skill, stacking twice. It will not match the signature, but it keeps her Liberation online reliably.

Skill upgrade order

Her Forte Circuit, Basic Attack, and Resonance Liberation share the top tier and should all be raised together, since her damage is spread across enhanced basics and her burst finisher rather than concentrated in one ability. Resonance Skill comes next. Intro Skill sits last and can be skipped outright, as it contributes very little to her output.

Best Qingxiao teams

Every strong lineup for her follows the same shape. One Tune Strain applier, one healer or buffer, and Qingxiao holding the field for long stretches.

TeamWhy it works
Qingxiao + Denia + MornyeHer most comfortable setup. Denia applies Tune Strain – Shifting, groups enemies with her Erosion Field, and adds Tune Break Boost for the whole team.
Qingxiao + Lynae + MornyeLynae leans more toward Resonance Liberation amplification, which is a slightly worse fit, but the rotation is smooth and hard to disrupt.
Qingxiao + Lynae + ShorekeeperShorekeeper supplies Crit Rate and Crit DMG, useful if her Crit ratio is still uneven.

Mornye is the healer of choice in the first two teams because her Syntony Field raises the Off-Tune Buildup Rate and her Interfered Marker increases the damage enemies take. Both directly feed Qingxiao’s scaling rather than just keeping the team alive.

How to tell the build is working

Watch for the Heart of Evil’s Purge buff icon appearing after your first Tune Strain – Shifting application. If it is not up before you commit to her burst window, your rotation order is wrong, or your applier is not on the team. With Glint of Clouds equipped, you should also see the stack counter climb to five during a normal rotation. If it plateaus below that, the status is not being applied often enough.

Note: version 3.6 also runs a Denia rerun. If you own neither Denia nor Lynae, picking one up is the single highest-value investment you can make for Qingxiao, ahead of chasing her signature weapon.

Once the Echo set, the main Echo, and the applier are all in place, the rest is repetition. Farm Heart of Evil’s Purge pieces in Mengzhou until the Crit substats cooperate, keep Energy Regen high enough for a clean Liberation cycle, and let the team feed her the status she needs.
