Version 3.6 of Wuthering Waves, “Lamplight in Mirage, Sword’s Resolve in Heart,” went live on August 20, 2026. It pushes the Mengzhou story forward with a new Main Quest act, adds two 5-star Resonators in Qingxiao and Jingran, opens a fresh area, and layers in a run of limited-time events that carry through to the end of September. Underneath all that, Kuro Games shipped a fairly heavy round of system work, including a mailbox overhaul, a rebuilt Echo recommendation system, and DLSS 4.5 support on PC.
Quick answer: Update the client, then claim the Astrite x300 bug-fix compensation from your Mail. Qingxiao and her weapon banner run first, Jingran’s phase starts September 10, and the version’s story content unlocks once you finish Chapter IV Segue “The Chant of Unseen Ties.”
Qingxiao and Jingran: New 5-star Resonators in 3.6
Both new Resonators are built as main damage dealers, but they pull in opposite directions. Qingxiao is a reclusive sword cultivator and the nominal Xuan Paragon of Xuanfang Hold, known publicly as the Sword Transcendent. Jingran is a Nethermancer out of Mengzhou who wanders Mirage Realms and ruins, answering to no sect or doctrine.

Each one arrives with a signature 5-star weapon on its own Featured Weapon Convene. Qingxiao pairs with the sword Glint of Clouds, while Jingran pairs with the broadblade Thousandfold Deliverance.
Version 3.6 banner schedule and reruns
The version splits into two phases. Qingxiao debuts first alongside a Denia rerun; Jingran headlines the second half with Hiyuki and Mornye returning next to him.

New story quests and how to unlock them
Two permanent story additions land with the update, and they gate each other in sequence. The Main Quest picks up after the great battle, with the Land of Xuanfang settling down until a WavesLine message from Yangyang arrives saying Suisui is heading back to Mengzhou City, right as large-scale mechanism malfunctions start spreading across the region.

The Segue follows the Nethermancer’s return, with Liangyu passing along the news and a meeting set at Xianling Village. Both quests stay available permanently after the update, so there’s no window to miss.
Finishing “Song of the Heart Sword” also unlocks the Xuanyuan Domain location, the Cloud Voyage and Jadie the Mightiest Autopuppet motorbike liveries, and the “Cloud Ride Garage” motorbike display theme, which is claimed from the Xuanfang Ministry of Development chat window on WavesLine.

The Strings Remember ties directly into Qingxiao. After peace returns to the Land of Xuanfang, you head back to her peak and she formally teaches you to play the seven-string qin she handed over earlier. If Dreams Still Reverberate sends you back into the Somnoire after the Ivory Gatekeeper reports that the sealed gate has reopened and Nightmares are loose again.
New Echo, hologram challenge, and cosmetics
Calamity Effigy joins the Echo roster as the version’s new pickup. On the challenge side, Tactical Hologram: Sparring adds a Myriad Snare: Rustfire Chassis fight, and a matching Phantom Echo for that boss is also part of the update.
Cosmetically, the two new Resonators each get an accessory — Cloudbloom for Qingxiao and Snowpaw for Jingran — alongside the Resonance! Best Combo title and the two motorbike liveries tied to the Main Quest.
Quality-of-life changes: Mail, Echoes, and the motorbike
The mailbox got the most concrete upgrade. There’s now a Favorites button at the bottom of a mail, and favorited mail won’t be wiped when it expires or when you use “Delete Read Mails.” You can favorite up to 100 mails, the box holds 200 total, a single mail can carry up to 40 attachments, and the auto-delete order has been reworked for when you hit the cap.
Echo recommendations were rebuilt as well. Open a Resonator’s Echo page and hit Suggest to reach the new page, pick a Sonata Effect, then use Preview to compare your current setup against the recommended one before applying it. A “Main Echo” slot has been added to the Suggest feature for filtering. Note: the recommendation data is scheduled to refresh on August 26 using data from recently active players, so suggestions may shift after that date.
Expedition Motorbike changes cover both looks and behavior. Display Themes live under Expedition Motorbike > Motorbike Appearance, with the “Startorch Academy Garage” theme claimable from the Startorch Academy WavesLine chat after finishing “Beneath a Melting Night Sky.” Autopilot now resets the bike’s position automatically if it sits still too long, recommends direct travel instead of Navigation Tracking when the destination is close, and small objects blocking your path in the Land of Xuanfang turn transparent so you can ride through.
Sharing has been widened too. Gallery Sceneries and Main Story images, Endstate Matrix result and total-points screens, Whimpering Wastes results, and Tower of Adversity results can all be shared across platforms. On mobile, pulling a 5-star Resonator or weapon from a 10-pull now opens a shareable page for it.
Graphics and performance updates in 3.6
PC gets NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, including 5x and 6x frame generation options under Settings > Graphics > Advanced > Frame Generation. Those higher multipliers have hardware requirements.

Vulkan sits under Settings > Graphics > Vulkan, and you need to restart the game after switching it on. Ray Tracing Megalights support has been extended to eligible AMD graphics devices, which improves lighting in certain environments.
There’s also a staged, cross-platform performance test built around a change of programming language, rolling out gradually after maintenance. It targets better overall performance and higher average frame rates on supported hardware, and it’s excluded on iOS devices with 4GB of RAM or less, iPhone 14 models running iOS 16.0, 17.0, 17.1, or 17.2, and Android devices with 6GB of RAM or less. This is still a test build rather than the final version, and the schedule can shift.
Tip: enabling frame generation when your base frame rate is very low can raise the number on screen, but it may introduce input lag or display issues.
Notable bug fixes
The fix list is long, but a few entries matter more than the rest for day-to-day play.
- Damage and effects from Rover: Electro’s Resonance Skill “Thrum of All Sounds” no longer persist after the skill is interrupted.
- Clearing Weekly Challenge’s Bell of Archaic Chants now counts toward the “Complete Weekly Challenge 2 times” task in Pioneer Podcast.
- Several unresponsive-screen bugs are gone, including ones triggered by changing your current team, opening Mingshen Notices, and jumping to a material’s map location from the Forte screen.
- Frame generation not working on PC has been fixed, as has switching between Weapon Projections failing to apply.
- Forgery Challenges now correctly count enemies defeated using Negative Status.
- The permanently Cloudy weather in Western Fang Peaks after “Faithful Heart Tested at Skyfall” has been corrected, along with screen flickering in Mengzhou with Ray Tracing enabled.
Character model issues for Suisui, Yangyang: Xuanling, Aemeath, and Lynae were also cleaned up, and Rebecca’s Character Stories had textual errors corrected.
Claiming the Astrite compensation
One smaller change worth knowing about before you spend: the Afterglow Coral Store now shows a confirmation box listing the number of Tides and the cost whenever you try to exchange more than 10 Radiant Tides or Forging Tides in one go. With Qingxiao’s banner running until September 10 and Jingran’s phase following it, that extra prompt is a useful guard against an accidental bulk purchase mid-patch.
