The Sinking City 2: How the Alchemical Abundance Talent Changes Ammo Crafting

The exact per-type yield increases when you craft ammunition with Alchemical Abundance equipped versus without it.

The exact per-type yield increases when you craft ammunition with Alchemical Abundance equipped versus without it.

Alchemical Abundance is a Talent in The Sinking City 2 that raises how much ammunition Calvin gets from a single crafting action. Its in-game text reads “Gain noticeably more ammunition when crafting,” but the actual bump depends on which ammo type you make. Handguns and submachine guns benefit most, while frag grenades see no change at all.

Quick answer: With Alchemical Abundance equipped, one craft yields +2 Handgun Ammo, +2 Submachine Gun Ammo, +1 Shotgun Ammo, and +1 Rifle Ammo. Frag Grenades stay at the same amount.

Ammo crafting yields with and without Alchemical Abundance

The talent applies a flat increase per craft rather than a percentage, so the numbers are consistent every time you make a batch. Here is what each crafting action produces in both states.

Ammo typeBase yieldWith talentDifference
Handgun Ammo1012+2
Submachine Gun Ammo1113+2
Shotgun Ammo67+1
Rifle Ammo45+1
Frag Grenades11+0

Note: Frag Grenades are the one exception. They come out at a single unit per craft whether or not the talent is slotted, so equipping Alchemical Abundance does nothing for grenade production.

Where Alchemical Abundance fits in the Talent system

Alchemical Abundance is an Intermediate-tier Talent. You unlock and equip Talents at the Talent Table found in Safe Rooms, which becomes available after you finish Part 1. Unlocking any Talent costs Dream Essence, earned by connecting clue notes in the Investigation menu, completing puzzles, and finishing story tasks.

Slots are limited. At the start, you can only run one round Talent and one diamond Talent at once, though additional slots open up for 10 Dream Essence each (hold R at the Talent Table). Because Alchemical Abundance occupies one of those slots, it competes directly with damage, survivability, and weapon-handling picks.

How to confirm the talent is working

Open the Talent Table in a Safe Room and equip Alchemical Abundance. The menu confirms it with the “Unequip” prompt replacing “Equip” on that entry.
Craft a batch of Handgun Ammo or Submachine Gun Ammo. You should receive 12 or 13 units respectively instead of the base 10 or 11.

If your handgun craft still returns 10 rounds, the talent is not active in a loadout slot. Double-check that it shows as equipped rather than just unlocked, since owning a Talent does not apply its effect until it fills a slot.

When the talent is worth a slot

Ammunition is scarce in The Sinking City 2, and crafting on the spot is a core part of managing that scarcity. Alchemical Abundance pays off most if firearm crafting is your main ammo source and you lean on handguns or the submachine gun, where the +2 per craft compounds across a run.

It offers less when your shortage comes from missed shots rather than low crafting output, or when you mostly rely on the rifle and shotgun, which only gain a single extra round each. And if you craft frag grenades often, the talent adds nothing there, so a different pick will usually serve you better in that slot.
