The Crystal Cave is the best XP farming location in Fisch. It sits inside the Sovereignty Mines, under the Statue of Sovereignty, and the water you want is purple. A late-game rod with the Clever mutation, Truffle Worm bait, and stacked XP buffs is what turns that water into a fast level grind.
Quick answer: Sail to the Statue of Sovereignty, climb down into the Sovereignty Mines, and fish the purple Crystal Cave water with a Great Rod of Oscar that has the Clever mutation, plus Truffle Worm bait.
Crystal Cave XP farm loadout
Bring the Great Rod of Oscar and put the Clever mutation on it before you leave the dock. Clever applies a 2.25x XP multiplier to every catch, which is the main reason this cave is worth the trip. A weaker rod still works in the same water, but the XP per fish drops hard without that multiplier.
| Loadout piece | What it adds |
|---|---|
| Great Rod of Oscar with Clever | 2.25x XP on each catch |
| Truffle Worm | +300 Luck |
| Merlin buffs | +20% Lure, +25% Luck, +20% XP |
| Mermaid Cove and Blue Moon | Extra XP stacked on Merlin |
Open the Fishing Rods inventory and switch to the Baits tab. That is where you change what is on the hook. The list includes everyday options, so scroll until you reach Truffle Worm instead of leaving a default bait equipped.

Select Truffle Worm and hit Equip. If another bait is already active, replace it before you cast. Luck from Truffle Worm is what helps rare Crystal Cave fish show up often enough for the XP rate to stay high.

Stack Merlin’s three buffs on top of the rod. That package is +20% Lure, +25% Luck, and +20% XP. When Mermaid Cove and the Blue Moon event are available, take those XP buffs too. They sit on the same catch as Clever, so the 2.25x multiplier applies to a larger base number.
Note: Apply Merlin, Mermaid Cove, and Blue Moon before you start a long session in the cave. The rod and bait stay equipped, but the buffs are timed.

The cave is not a surface pond. You boat to the Statue of Sovereignty, then walk down through the Sovereignty Mines until the water turns purple. Stay on that path. Fishing anywhere else on the statue island is a different spot with lower XP.

Big Sovereign Oarfish XP in Crystal Cave
The catch that proves the setup is a Big Sovereign Oarfish. One 110.5kg fish from this water paid 15,303 XP. That number is the cave’s payoff, not a random coastline legendary. Keep casting in the same purple pool and look for that name on the catch banner.
| Catch | Weight | XP shown |
|---|---|---|
| Big Sovereign Oarfish | 110.5kg | +15303xp |
You know the farm is working when the catch popup shows a Big Sovereign Oarfish and an XP value above 15,000. If you are in purple water with Clever and the buffs active, that banner is the check. Smaller XP on a different fish means the cave can still be right, but the Oarfish is the one that confirms the high end of the spot.
If XP stays low, you are usually in the wrong water, missing Clever on the Great Rod of Oscar, or fishing without Truffle Worm and the Merlin XP buff. Move until the pool is purple, re-equip the loadout, then cast again. Stay on that water once the 15,000-plus XP popup appears.
