Finishing The Incursion Fault, a mission in the Search for Jesse series, grants Shift in the West Incursion Zone. This gravity ability lets Dylan walk across walls, rotated roads, and buildings’ twisted interiors. The route passes through a locked Parking Garage, a nearby laundromat, and a long drop into the Fault itself.
Quick answer: Reach the Parking Garage in West Incursion Zone 1, take the security key from the laundromat, drop through the garage shaft into the Fault, and talk to Jesse. She hands you the Shift ability.
The Incursion Fault location and rewards
The mission sits in the northwest corner of West Incursion Zone 1, at the multi-level Parking Garage near the House of Mirrors. Visions of Jesse start appearing as you head that way, which confirms you are on the right track.
Clearing the Fault gives you the main traversal upgrade plus a few extras. Here is what you walk away with.

Reaching the Parking Garage
Following the objective through West Incursion eventually stops you at a stretch of road that rises straight up into the air. You cannot climb it yet, because that takes Shift. The way around is an elevator beside the road, and it has no power.
Ride the elevator up to the raised road, deal with the enemies along the way, and continue forward until the Parking Garage is directly ahead.
Finding the Parking Garage security key
The garage entrance is locked. A note from the security guard on the office door explains that he left for the laundromat, and that spot gets marked on your map.
Run down the street to the laundromat. The front door is locked from the inside, so take the alley on the side of the building to reach the back entrance.
Take the Parking Garage Security Key from the suspended body inside. You can also grab the Parking Garage Attendant’s Report while the attendant’s recording plays.
On the deck you will see the warped parking structure twisting into a deep central pit. Loot the echo container by the payphones, then move to the interior shaft.
Shift changes which surface counts as the floor for Dylan. A short tutorial runs right after you gain it, teaching every use before you are sent back to the warped garage. On PlayStation, all of these use the L1 button.
Anomaly surfaces show green arrows that point in the direction gravity will pull once you shift onto them. Use those to plan the next jump before you commit.
Follow the roads and trails covered in golden leaves. Shift onto the marked vertical wall, then keep using L1 around corners and overhead surfaces as the prompts appear.
At the final TV near the large ring portal, interact to trigger the closing cutscene of Jesse sealing the door. The quest then completes, granting the Living Shard, the “I Feel It” collectible, and a Talent Point as you exit into the garage.
Before leaving, grab the missed Health Upgrade Point 3/3. Use a vertical wall Shift next to a red car to reach the upper parking level, then open the container in the alcove.
Run up the exit ramp, clear the flying corrupted enemies in the corridor, and follow the exit signs on the walls and roads until you emerge at street level in daylight.
You know it worked when the log shows “Quest Completed / The Incursion Fault,” Shift stays available in your ability set, and the map marks the Parking Garage Fault as cleared. From here, Shift stays permanent, opening the twisted routes and earlier areas that a normal street-level path could not reach.
