Rex Infernus: How to Get the Astronaut Mask (Grapple Race)

Assemble Mister Peeks, beat his grapple race twice under 60 seconds, and claim a mask that doubles your Void Claw time.

Assemble Mister Peeks, beat his grapple race twice under 60 seconds, and claim a mask that doubles your Void Claw time.

The Astronaut Mask is a wearable reward on Rex Infernus that doubles how long your grapple hook stays active and removes fall damage. Getting it means rebuilding Mister Peeks from parts scattered across the map, then clearing the grapple race he unlocks. It is a side objective, separate from the main Easter Egg, but it leans on the same Void Claw grapple you use everywhere else.

Quick answer: Grab Mister Peeks’s head in the Pay House, unlock the Void Claw through Pack-a-Punch, collect five body parts at Arania Insula, Runus Insula, Nexus Forge, Caltheris Passage, and Spira Insula, then interact with the assembled Mister Peeks in the Caltheris Main Chamber and finish his grapple race twice in under 60 seconds.

What the Astronaut Mask does

Equipped, the mask doubles the duration of the standard green-pedestal grapple hooks. It also cancels fall damage, which matters on a map built from floating platforms and long drops. The effect applies to the normal Void Claw you pick up from green pedestals around the map.

Unlock the Void Claw first

You cannot reach any of the Mister Peeks parts without the grapple hook, so activate Pack-a-Punch before hunting for pieces. Once Pack-a-Punch is live, interact with the green orb pedestals to receive a Void Claw. It is timed with limited uses, but you can pull another charge from a different pedestal or advance a round to refresh them.

Grab Mister Peeks’s head in the Pay House

The head sits on a dresser inside the Pay House and is available from the start of the match. Pick it up early so the rest of the collection tracks properly. This is the first component; the remaining five are body parts spread across the outer zones.

Collect all five Mister Peeks body parts

Every part is reached with the Void Claw, and most sit off the edge of a platform or on a distant rock. Aim the grapple at each part and pull it to you when the interaction prompt appears. The five locations are fixed.

Assemble Mister Peeks in the Caltheris Main Chamber

With the head and all five parts collected, the fully assembled Mister Peeks appears in the Caltheris Main Chamber. Opening the map’s doors is part of reaching this stage. Interact with him to begin the grapple race, which is where the “Temple Runner” reward comes from.

Beat the grapple race twice under 60 seconds

The race is a grapple time trial. Clearing it once under 60 seconds unlocks the “Temple Runner” Dark Ops challenge. The mask itself is the reward for completing the same race under 60 seconds a second time, so plan on two clean runs.

Start the race from Mister Peeks and follow the fastest grapple line between points rather than stopping to fight. Keeping momentum on the Void Claw is what puts you inside the 60-second window.
Finish your first sub-60 run to earn the Temple Runner challenge, then immediately trigger the race again and repeat the route.
Complete the second run under 60 seconds with minimal errors. That successful second lap awards the Astronaut Mask.

Note: keep grapple charges topped up before you start each attempt, since running out mid-course costs the run. Fresh charges come from the green pedestals or by advancing a round.

How to confirm you unlocked it

The first sub-60 run registers the Temple Runner Dark Ops challenge, which is your signal that the timing worked. After the second successful run, the Astronaut Mask becomes available to equip, and once it is on you will see grapple durations last twice as long and fall damage stop applying. If you fall short of 60 seconds, the mask does not drop, so re-run the course until both laps land inside the limit.
