DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction is out for every GeForce RTX GPU, and you turn it on through the Nvidia app. It swaps the older hand-tuned denoisers for a second-generation transformer model that cleans up noisy ray-traced and path-traced frames, giving sharper lighting, steadier motion, and less ghosting in supported games.

Quick answer: Open the Nvidia app, go to Settings > About and opt in to Early Access releases, then set Ray Reconstruction to “Recommended” or “Preset F” under DLSS Override – Model Presets for a supported game (or in Global Settings).

What you need before enabling it

Ray Reconstruction works on any GeForce RTX card, but the new model ships as an Early Access feature in the Nvidia app, with a full public release following in September. Confirm the items below before you start.

Enable DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction in the Nvidia app

Open the Nvidia app and go to Settings, then click About. Opt in to Early Access releases so the updated Ray Reconstruction model downloads to your system.
Open the “Graphics” section and select one of the supported games. If you would rather apply the change everywhere at once, choose “Global Settings” at the top of the window instead of picking a single game.
Scroll down to “Driver Settings” and click “DLSS Override – Model Presets,” then click “Custom.”
Open the “Ray Reconstruction” drop-down and choose “Recommended” or “Preset F,” then click “Apply.” The new model is now active for that game or, if you used Global Settings, across your whole supported library.

Note: The same app update also adds per-game Resizable BAR controls in Driver Settings, G-SYNC Pulsar settings under System > Display, and Borderless Windowed support for Optimal Playable Settings.

What the new model changes

Ray Reconstruction unifies denoising and Super Resolution into a single AI network trained on Nvidia supercomputers. It fills in higher-quality pixels where rays were not sampled, then reconstructs a sharper, more stable high-resolution image using motion and engine data. The second-generation transformer brings four concrete gains.

In practice, that shows up as cleaner particle effects and reduced snow ghosting in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, more responsive laser lighting with fewer leftover artifacts in PRAGMATA, and steadier CRT static in Alan Wake 2.

Developers are also adding the model directly through their own game updates, so the list keeps growing beyond what the app overrides on its own. Various RTX Remix mods are joining too, including the Quake III RTX mod and Painkiller’s RTX Edition, with an Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind RTX mod in development.


Upcoming games adding it at launch

Two major titles are set to add DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction and path tracing next month. Control: Resonant becomes the first big AAA game of 2026 to include the upgrade at launch.

Phantom Blade Zero and Gears of War: E-Day are also lined up to receive support, with the latter pairing full DLSS 4.5 with new RTX Mega Geometry. No confirmed dates have been set for those two yet.

Once you have applied “Recommended” or “Preset F” and launched a supported game, the cleaner denoising should be visible immediately in ray-traced scenes. If the option is missing, make sure you are on driver 580.88 WHQL or newer and that Early Access is switched on, since the model does not download until you opt in. A wider public release lands in September, so the same feature will reach every RTX user without the Early Access step soon after.
