The Silent Steps is a fast travel beacon tucked into the snowy, maze-like stretch of the Ruins of Mammon in Mortal Shell 2. It sits behind a Bone Gate on an upper ledge, and the path to it winds past gravestones and through a cave with a jump pad. Reaching it gives you a fresh place to level up, swap Shells, and warp back to Marrow Keep.
Quick answer: The Silent Steps sits past Sariel, the Endless boss arena. From the large statue in front of that arena, turn right and cross the Bone Gate. If you are approaching on foot, take the left path from the main gate, cross the bridge, loop the gravestone field to a cave, ride the jump pad up, and follow the ledge through the Bone Gate to the beacon.
Where The Silent Steps beacon is located
The beacon is part of the Ruins of Mammon region, the war-scarred half of Fallgrim you reach after Fainweald. It anchors the white ruins in the far south of Mammon, the same area where you first fight Sariel, the Endless. The Silent Steps does not appear on your map until you find it, so you will need to travel through the snowy terrain to tag it for the first time.
Open your map before you set out to line up the route from the main gate. The player marker sits at your current spot, and the path runs to the left before curving through the graves toward the cave.

Note: If you already have a nearby fast travel point unlocked, you can warp to Sariel’s arena instead. From the large statue in front of the arena, turn right and use the Bone Gate to reach the same beacon without walking the full snowfield.
Enemies guarding the approach
Large snail-like creatures patrol the ground just outside the Bone Gate. They are slow but can catch you if you rush the beacon without checking your surroundings. Clear or slip past them before interacting, since cleansing the beacon and resting there causes regular enemies in the area to respawn.
What the beacon does once cleansed
Beacons restore Health and Resolve to the Harbinger and act as fast travel points once tagged. Cleansing one also awards Ova, the UnderMether eggs you siphon for campaign progression. The Silent Steps opens the standard beacon menu with these options.
| Menu option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Level Up | Spend Gloom to raise the Harbinger’s level. |
| Change Shell and Equipment | Swap your active Shell and gear loadout. |
| Change Mortal Clothing | Adjust cosmetic clothing. |
| Mother’s Pulse | Beacon utility option. |
| Mother’s Breath | Open the fast travel menu to other cleansed beacons. |
| Return to Marrow Keep | Warp straight back to the main hub. |
Leveling up here needs enough Gloom. If you try to raise the Harbinger without it, the upgrade screen previews the next level but shows “Insufficient Gloom” and blocks the purchase.

You will know the beacon is yours when the “BEACON CLEANSED” prompt appears and The Silent Steps joins your Mother’s Breath fast travel list. From that point you can warp back whenever you want to level up, change Shells, or shortcut over to Sariel’s arena and the Chamber of Becoming nearby.
