The Rod of the Singularity is the toughest reward in the Astral Observatory update that landed in Fisch on August 22, 2026 (Version 1.98.0). It is a high-tier fishing rod with an infinite weight cap, strong Luck and Lure Speed, and mutation odds built for money farming. Getting it means finishing two linked quest chains and pulling five specific fish out of five hidden fishing areas scattered across the map.
Quick answer: Reach Corvus inside the Astral Cavern beneath Challenger’s Deep, complete his collection quest to earn a Dyson Sphere, hand that Sphere to Merlin, then catch and return all five Collapse components to unlock the Rod of the Singularity.

Rod of the Singularity stats
The rod carries an infinite maximum weight, so it can reel in any fish regardless of size. Its Control sits at 0.08, which produces a reeling bar about 38% wide.
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Lure Speed | 618% |
| Luck | 287% |
| Control | 0.08 (+8%) |
| Resilience | 28% |
| Max Kg | Infinite |
| Line Distance | 618 m |

The rod’s mutations are where its value comes from. Each catch rolls independent chances for three high-multiplier mutations, and catching a Singularity or Umbra fish multiplies the final fish weight by 1.286×, boosting both money and XP.
| Mutation | Chance | Multiplier |
|---|---|---|
| Nova | 25.92% | 6× |
| Umbra | 20% | 9× |
| Singularity | 18.54% | 10.618× |
The rod also inverts the normal reeling minigame. While the fish is inside the bar you get +1% forced progress per second and the control bar moves 90% slower. While the fish is outside the bar, resilience drops to negative infinity and the control bar speeds up by 50%. On top of that, a Singularity-mutated catch has a 10% chance to duplicate, with a further 25% chance to duplicate again. In practice the bar crawls when you are on the fish and races when you are off it, so the timing feels backwards compared to every other rod.

Gear you should bring first
Nearly every step depends on landing a specific mutation, so line up the right rods and bait before you start. The Nova mutation comes from the Cerulean Fang Rod or the Rod of the Cosmos, and the Celestial mutation comes from the Celestial Rod. Garbage Bait raises your odds of pulling trash items like scrap metal, while Starlight Worm bait helps with the rarer catches.
| Item | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Cerulean Fang Rod / Rod of the Cosmos | Applies the Nova mutation |
| Celestial Rod | Applies the Celestial mutation |
| Garbage Bait | Raises trash-item catch rate |
| Shiny or Sparkling Totem | Helps land the Shiny/Sparkling Anglerfish |
| Aurora Totem | Sets weather for the Nova Hardened Glass |
Reach Corvus in the Astral Cavern

Complete Corvus’ quest for the Dyson Sphere
Corvus asks for four items, each with a required mutation and location. Collect all four and return them to receive the Dyson Sphere, the key item for the second half of the chain.
| Item | Amount | Where and how |
|---|---|---|
| Shiny or Sparkling Celestial Crowned Anglerfish | 1 | Abyssal Zenith cavern; Celestial Rod with a Shiny or Sparkling Totem active |
| Nova Hardened Glass | 1 | Abyssal Zenith cavern; Cerulean Fang Rod with Starlight Worm and Aurora weather |
| Nova Gold Pieces | 12 | Mine Shaft; Cerulean Fang Rod or Rod of the Cosmos for the Nova mutation |
| Celestial Scrap Metal | 12 | The Depths during daytime; Celestial Rod with Garbage Bait |
Note: The Anglerfish and Nova Hardened Glass both come from the Abyssal Zenith cavern, so it is worth clearing both in one session before you leave.

Complete Merlin’s Collapse quest
Hand the Dyson Sphere to Merlin to unlock the “Rod of the Singularity: Collapse” quest. It sends you to five separate hidden fishing rooms, one for each component. Bring a high-luck rod such as Requiem or Plague River, paired with high-luck bait, to speed up each catch.
| Component | Location | How to enter |
|---|---|---|
| Stabilizer Core | Abyssal Zenith cavern | Same black hole portal used for Corvus |
| Unstable Crystal | Boreal Pines ice lake | Swim to the center of the lake and enter the dark portal |
| Umbral Matrix | Everton Forest | Enter the cave opening at the edge of the central pond |
| Singularity Control Unit | Cryogenic Canal | Descend under the bridge and step through the dark door at the base |
| Stellar Wiring | Snow Cap | Use a Blue Moon Totem during clear night, then jump into the lit area at the base of the peak |
Tip: Setting a teleport point near Merlin cuts down the back-and-forth travel between these five rooms.

How to confirm the unlock
Return all five components to Merlin. Once you turn in the last one, the Collapse quest closes, and the Rod of the Singularity drops straight into your inventory. If the turn-in does not register, check that each item was caught in its correct cavern, since a component from the wrong location will not count toward the quest.
With the rod equipped, the inverted control bar and the trio of Nova, Umbra, and Singularity mutations make it one of the strongest tools for cash grinding in Fisch, especially once you pair it with the right enchantments.
