Crouching in Where Winds Meet is tied to different buttons depending on whether you use keyboard and mouse, an Xbox‑style controller on PC, or a DualSense on PS5. Crouch is also combined with other actions, so it can feel a little confusing at first.
Default crouch controls in Where Winds Meet
The table below shows the default crouch bindings on each platform.
| Platform / Input | Action name in game | Default button | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|

Standalone crouch key; not shared with other basic actions. |
| PC – Xbox‑style Controller | Environment Interaction / Crouch (Hold) | Left Stick Button (L3) | Press and hold the left stick to crouch; tap/hold also handles environment interaction. |
| PS5 – DualSense | Interact / Crouch (Hold) | Left Stick Button (L3) | Press and hold the left stick to crouch; the same button is used to interact. |

Interact / Crouch (Hold), because it also handles interaction prompts. How crouch works (hold vs. toggle)
On the keyboard, crouch behaves like a toggle by default: one tap of C turns crouch on, and another turns it off.
On controller, crouch is a “hold” action: your character only stays low while you keep L3 pressed. This is why crouch on both Xbox‑style controllers and DualSense is labeled with “(Hold)” in the control lists.

Can you make crouch a click instead of a hold on L3?
The default controller layout uses “hold L3” for crouch, and the binding entry itself is defined as a hold‑type action. Players looking for an option to convert L3 crouch into a simple click rather than a hold have not reported a setting that flips this behavior directly.
Rebinding can move crouch to a different button, but that new binding will still act as a hold where the game expects it, especially when the action also covers interaction. If you want crouch to feel more comfortable on a controller, the most practical adjustment is usually to place it on a button that is easier for you to hold down during long sneaking sections.
Once you know where crouch is bound on your platform and how to tweak button settings, sneaking around Jianghu becomes much easier to control and far less confusing.
