Star Wars Zero Company: How to Find Somewhere to Spy on the Guards

The exact vantage point and scope prompt that clears this objective during Infiltrate the Prisoner Exchange.

Halfway through Infiltrate the Prisoner Exchange, Hawks trades combat for surveillance. Wearing a blue security uniform, you are dropped into a wide lobby and told to find somewhere to spy on the guards, with no waypoint pointing at a door or a terminal. The spot exists, it just sits one floor above where most players start looking.

Quick answer: Take the staircase on the right side of the lobby up to the balcony, stand on the blue holographic marker near the railing, and press the scope prompt (E on PC) to use the Pico-S on the guards below.

Where the spying spot is in the prisoner exchange lobby

The lobby is built around a central fountain, with staircases leading to an upper balcony that overlooks the whole ground floor. The vantage point is on that balcony, not anywhere on the lobby floor. Guards stand around below, and the game will not let you eavesdrop from ground level.

From the lobby entrance, run straight ahead past the fountain and bear right. You are heading for the staircase on the right-hand side of the room, so ignore the guards standing around the floor.
Climb the stairs to the upper balcony. The objective text stays the same until you reach the top, so keep going even if nothing on screen changes.

Walk along the balcony to the blue holographic marker near the railing. Stepping onto it changes the objective to “USE THE PICO-S TO SPY ON THE GUARDS”, which confirms you are in the right place.

Using the Pico-S to listen in on the guards

The Pico-S is the same electroscope Hawks uses for scouting elsewhere in the game, and here it doubles as a listening device. Standing on the marker brings up a SCOPE prompt at the bottom of the screen.

Press the scope prompt (E on PC) to raise the binoculars. The camera snaps to a zoomed view of the floor below.
Frame the guards standing below the balcony. Hawks comments, “This ought to work. Let’s see if someone drops a name I can use,” and the conversation starts on its own.

Stay in the scope until the dialogue finishes. The exchange is short, and the objective will not advance if you drop out of the view early.

What you overhear, and the name it gives you

The point of the whole detour is a single piece of intel. The Guard Captain explains the restriction on the upper level to another guard, and drops the name Hawks needs to talk his way past.

It’s a class Besh Order. No one goes up there without Major Striker’s personal approval.

The other guard responds that Striker is “really milking that promotion,” and the captain laughs it off. That is the full conversation, and it takes only a few seconds to play out.

How to confirm the objective completed

When the dialogue ends, the scope view closes automatically and the objective tracker in the corner switches to “SPEAK WITH THE GUARD CAPTAIN”. If the tracker still reads “FIND SOMEWHERE TO SPY ON THE GUARDS”, you never reached the marker. If it reads “USE THE PICO-S TO SPY ON THE GUARDS”, you are on the marker but have not triggered the scope yet.

Objective on screenWhat it means
FIND SOMEWHERE TO SPY ON THE GUARDSHead up the right-hand stairs to the balcony marker
USE THE PICO-S TO SPY ON THE GUARDSYou are on the marker; press the scope prompt
SPEAK WITH THE GUARD CAPTAINDone; go back down and approach the captain

Note: this stretch is not a combat encounter, so there is no risk of losing an operator here. Once the tracker flips to the Guard Captain, head back down the stairs and use the name you just picked up.
