The D-O event in Star Wars: Droid Tycoon ended the way these things usually do in Fortnite’s creator experiences, with a timer hitting zero and a short cutscene taking over the screen. This time the payoff was a tease for a droid category the mode has not carried until now.
Quick answer: Protocol Droids are confirmed for Star Wars: Droid Tycoon by an in-game teaser cutscene that plays the words “PROTOCOL DROIDS COMING SOON.” No release date or patch version has been announced for them.
What the Protocol Droids teaser showed
The cutscene triggers for everyone in the lobby at the moment the event countdown expires. It opens on C-3PO standing on a sand dune with an arm raised, then cuts to four protocol droids walking forward together across the desert before the “COMING SOON” card lands.
The build-up happens at the Jawa Sandcrawler, where the event banners return ahead of the timer running out. If you are standing at your base watching the counter, that is the spot the teaser plays out from.

Add to Google Preferences →Release date for Protocol Droids: nothing confirmed
There is no official date, time, or version number attached to the Protocol Droids drop. The teaser stops at “COMING SOON” and does not name a droid model, a rarity tier, a credits-per-second value, or which of the mode’s slot types the new droids would occupy.
Note: treat any specific date circulating for these droids as unverified until it appears in the mode’s own News tab or in an update from the creator. Droid Tycoon has shipped content on a fast, irregular cadence since launch, sometimes twice in the same week, so the gap between a teaser and the actual release is not predictable.
The D-O event rerun and the Dance Party mini event
The D-O event did not disappear permanently when its timer ran out. A rerun was slated for the following week, which is how the mode has handled several of its earlier events, including the Beskar events, which carried their own rerun banner.
A separate “DANCE PARTY MINI EVENT” panel also appeared on the event board with its own countdown, running roughly a day and a half out from the D-O finale. Mini events sit alongside the main event track rather than replacing it, so the board is worth checking each time you load in.

A limited-time offer for the LEP droid was live at the same time, priced at 2,016,000,000 credits. Limited deals like this are tied to the store rotation rather than to the event itself, so the listing can drop out even while an event is still running.
Where a new droid line fits into the Droidex
Droid Tycoon tracks every droid you craft in the Droidex, which already runs past 200 entries across Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary, and Mythic rarities. Each droid is also sorted into a Worker, Astromech, or Battle role, and assigning one to its matching slot adds a 10 percent credit boost.
Upgraded versions of a droid scale its income on a fixed curve, which is the main reason a new line matters to anyone deep into rebirths.
| Version | Credits per second vs. base |
|---|---|
| Base | 1x |
| Gold | 2x |
| Diamond | 4x |
| Rainbow | 8x |
Rarity still outweighs colour tier, though. A Rainbow Common such as the Imperial Probe tops out at 48k per second, which base versions of plenty of higher-rarity droids beat outright. Until the Protocol Droids’ rarity is known, there is no way to work out where they would land on that curve.
How to check for the Protocol Droids in-game
A protocol droid line is a reasonable next step for a mode that has already worked through astromechs, battle droids, worker units, and named characters like Mister Bones and DJ R-3X. For now, the teaser is the whole of it, and the D-O rerun plus the Dance Party mini event are what is actually on the board.
