Once Human Scenarios: The Best Order to Play Every PvE and PvP Mode

Start with Manibus, ramp up to Endless Dream, then choose your PvP path based on how much risk you can stomach.

Start with Manibus, ramp up to Endless Dream, then choose your PvP path based on how much risk you can stomach.

Once Human splits its world into separate servers called Scenarios, and each one runs on its own rules, map, and objectives. Some focus on cooperative boss fights and survival. Others throw you into player-versus-player conflict where your base and gear are on the line. When you make a character, the game asks you to pick one, and the choice sets the tone for your entire run.

Quick answer: New players should start with Manibus (its Novice server if available), then move to Endless Dream for a harder PvE test, followed by Deviation SCP and The Way of Winter. For PvP, begin with Evolution’s Call, then Prismverse’s Clash, and save RaidZone for last since it is the most punishing.

How Scenarios and Seasons work before you pick

A Scenario is the gameplay theme of a server. A Season is how long that Scenario runs, and different Scenarios have different Season lengths. As a Season progresses through its phases, new content unlocks on a fixed real-time schedule. Because of this, it helps to join a server that is early in its Season rather than one near the end.

When a Season ends, the server moves into a Settlement Phase where all content stays open for a while longer. For Manibus and Evolution’s Call, that phase lasts four weeks before the server closes and your character and eligible items are sent to Eternaland. You can then sign up for a new Scenario and continue from there.

Not everything carries over. Your character, cosmetics, currencies, friends, Battle Pass progress, blueprints, mods, food recipes, house blueprints, and furniture formulas are retained. Your character level and Memetics attributes reset every time, so veterans and newcomers start on the same footing. Deviants, regular resources, and crafted gear go to Eternaland, and you spend a limited pool of Resource Points to export items back into your new Season.

The PvE order: Manibus first, then step up the difficulty

PvE is where most players will spend their time. Each Scenario builds on the same core loop of gathering resources, building a base, and fighting bosses, but layers on its own mechanics. Following the order below eases you into those systems instead of dropping you into the hardest content cold.

1. Manibus

Manibus is the default PvE Scenario and the one built into launch. It sits in the eastern part of Nalcott and covers the fundamentals, including resource gathering, Prime War events, and the fight against the Manibus boss itself. There is a Novice server for first-timers, plus Normal and Hard difficulty servers that add super anomalies, shiny Deviations, cradle overrides, better rewards, and more contaminated zones. A season runs five phases, and you face the final boss in Phase 5.

Note: Even on a PvE server, some public events like Cargo Scramble can force you into PvP mode to compete for resources. Check the server rules before you commit.

2. Endless Dream

Once you know the basics, Endless Dream is the natural next step. It spreads hostile Dream Zones across the whole map, and every player on the server works to clear them. These zones are dangerous, with hazards like lightning strikes and damage-over-time debuffs. To clear one, you take down Light Dreamers and Deep Dreamers, then face the Eternal Dreamers. Each kill empowers the next boss, so the fights escalate as you push deeper.

3. Deviation SCP

Deviation SCP flips the usual formula. Your weapons and armor are limited, and player damage is heavily reduced, so your Deviants become your main source of damage. Capturing them here requires Binding Capsules, which you unlock through the Memetics menu. The loop centers on catching, nurturing, and fielding the strongest Deviations, then testing them against Gym owners and other players through matchmaking. It arrived during the Once Human and Palworld collaboration and leans hard into that creature-collecting style.

4. The Way of Winter

Save The Way of Winter for after you are comfortable with the core game. This hard-difficulty PvE Scenario sits in the northern part of Nalcott and adds temperature as a survival stat. You will craft cold-resistant armor to endure freezing zones and manage scorching heat elsewhere, plus build Thermal Towers to keep your base warm. Deviants here are tougher too, with shields, damage reduction, and health regeneration. The final phase pits you against two major bosses tied to the cold and hot regions.

The PvP order: from opt-in clan wars to full loot loss

PvP Scenarios turn up the intensity, but they do not all demand the same commitment. The order below moves from the most forgiving entry point to the harshest one, so you can learn the systems before your gear is genuinely at risk.

1. Evolution’s Call

Evolution’s Call is the first PvP Scenario and the best way in. It runs in the mid-eastern and southeastern parts of Nalcott and centers on Warband-versus-Warband conflict, with Stronghold Conquest missions deciding the season winner by points. Crucially, PvP is opt-in. You only fight other players when you toggle your Chaos State, and you can only be attacked by others who are also in theirs. Like Manibus, it offers Novice and Normal servers, plus Normal and Hard difficulty options with the same bonus content found on the PvE side.

2. Prismverse’s Clash

Prismverse’s Clash swaps clan warfare for a faction war between the Mayflies and the Rosetta. You take part in Public Crisis Events and capture Prism Deviations, converting them into Prism Energy for your side. It uses the same map as Manibus and Evolution’s Call but splits it into safe zones and war zones, so you only enter PvP when you step into a war zone. It is also the shortest Scenario, running four phases across 19 days, and you do not lose your backpack items when you die, which makes it a lower-risk pick. That short, laid-back structure suits solo players who still want to contribute to a team goal.

3. RaidZone

RaidZone is the endgame of PvP and the most demanding Scenario in the game. Set in a modified Broken Delta region, it is free-for-all combat with no safe zones. Anyone can attack anyone, base raids are on the table, and your character and base stay on the server even when you log off, so defensive walls are essential. Player stats are streamlined, mods are disabled, and weapons use different stats to level the field, though armor sets still give bonuses.

It splits into two modes. In Casual, dying carries no penalty. In Standard, you drop all carried items when you die and have to return to the spot where you fell to recover them. Only jump in here once you are ready to lose progress.

Which Scenario should you actually choose first?

If you are brand new, Manibus is the answer. It teaches every core mechanic without gimmicks and lets you fight world bosses solo or with a squad. From there, Endless Dream gives you a tougher cooperative challenge. PvP players who like large groups should head to Evolution’s Call, while Prismverse’s Clash is friendlier to solo play thanks to its short seasons and no backpack loss. RaidZone is reserved for anyone who wants a high-stakes experience where you can lose everything you built, even while offline.

You can join any Scenario at any time, but a fresh character always starts from scratch. If you already have a character, you can transfer them once your current Scenario reaches its final phase, or use an early exit card earned from events or the in-game Challenge shop. Either way, plan around the Season phases so you land on a server with plenty of runway left.
