Into the Den is a short side objective in The Blood of Dawnwalker that starts with a bear and ends with a buried stash. You read a letter taken from a bear’s den, learn about a hidden cache, then follow the marker to a hole scratched with an X. The whole thing runs about one hour of in-game time, or a single Time Segment.
Quick answer: From the Northern Foothills Shrine, head west to the bear, kill it, and inspect the corpse inside the den (it glows gold in Focus Mode) to grab the letter. Then go to the western huts in the marked area, find the X on the wall with stones under it, and interact with the hole to loot the cache and finish the quest.

Open the map after reading the letter and you’ll see the search zone highlighted. Head for the western huts inside that marked area. Look at the walls, and you’ll spot an X scratched onto one of them with a pile of stones underneath it.
Interact with the hole beneath the X to open the stash. This single action both loots the cache and closes out the quest, so there’s no separate turn-in step to worry about.

Watch the clock before you open the stash
Opening the cache advances time by one hour. That matters because of the Mass deadline. If you interact with the hole right before Mass, the quest can register as complete without letting you grab the items inside.
To avoid losing the loot, keep at least two Time Segments in hand before Mass when you open it. If timing is tight during the Prologue, you can skip the quest entirely and return to it after the Prologue ends.

Into the Den rewards
Finishing the quest gives 100 XP on its own. Looting the cache before the timer wraps around adds several extra items.
| Reward | Notes |
|---|---|
| 100 XP | Granted for completing the quest |
| Artisan’s Tunic | Useful early-game armor |
| Rebel’s Falchion Sword | Useful early-game weapon |
| Letter with a Tip | Unlocks a dialogue option with the Silver Trader in Svartrau City that forces him to trade silver with Coen |
| Turnip | Minor consumable item |
The Tunic and Falchion are solid for the opening hours, but you’ll swap them out fairly quickly as you explore, so there’s no need to rush the quest purely for the gear. The Letter with a Tip is the standout pickup, since it changes how the Silver Trader deals with you later.

You’ll know it worked when the quest clears after you interact with the hole and the items land in your inventory. If the quest closes but the loot never appears, you almost certainly opened the cache too close to Mass, so reload an earlier save with more Time Segments to spare and try again.
