The Blood of Dawnwalker: Where to Find Every Destroyed Shrine Heart

Recover each stolen heart, restore the damaged shrines across Vale Sangora, and reopen their fast travel, storage, and perk functions.

Recover each stolen heart, restore the damaged shrines across Vale Sangora, and reopen their fast travel, storage, and perk functions.

Damaged shrines dot Vale Sangora because Brencis ordered them wrecked, and soldiers pried out the idols, called hearts, that keep them running. Until you return a shrine’s heart, that shrine cannot be used for fast travel, storage, waiting, or managing perks. Finding the missing heart and placing it back is the only way to bring each one online.

Quick answer: Inspect a damaged shrine to start its quest, hold Focus Mode (L2/LT on controller, right mouse on PC) to reveal the thief’s footprints, follow them to a camp, corpse, or animal, loot the heart, then return to the shrine and interact with it to restore it.

How restoring a destroyed shrine works

A destroyed shrine shows up broken when you reach it. Approaching and inspecting it triggers the matching restoration quest, after which you can track down the heart. The idol itself looks like a small statue that slots into the shrine’s window or plinth.

Walk up to the broken shrine and inspect it. This starts the quest and marks the objective, so the game begins pointing you toward the heart.
Hold Focus Mode to expose the thief’s footprints or the yellow markings around the site. These almost always lead to whoever carried the heart away.
Follow the trail to its end. It typically stops at a bandit or soldier camp, a corpse, or a pack of wild animals guarding the idol.
Clear the enemies and grab the heart. Loot the body that carries it, or search chests and containers in the tent if the camp is stashing it. In cases where soldiers are still smashing the shrine as you arrive, just kill them and take the heart off the corpse.
Return to the shrine and interact with it to place the heart back. The shrine icon flips from gray to blue on the map, confirming it is active and ready for fast travel.

Note: Restoring a shrine advances time by one unit in almost every case. If you are running a quest with a deadline or a fixed time window, factor that cost in before you repair one.

Destroyed shrine heart locations

Each destroyed shrine sends you a short distance from the site to recover its heart. Use the table to see where each shrine sits and where its idol ends up.

What a restored shrine gives you

Once the heart is back, the shrine behaves like every intact one across Vale Sangora. You can fast travel to it from any other shrine you have already visited, open your storage, spend time waiting, and manage your perks. Fast travel itself does not consume in-game time, so repaired shrines cut down on long treks between locations.

Two shrine designs exist in the world, one shaped like a small chapel with a window for the heart and one resembling a rune-carved boulder. They function identically and share the same map icon, so the difference is purely visual.

If a shrine won’t restore

If the interact prompt to repair does not appear, you are missing the heart. You must have the idol in your inventory before the shrine accepts the restoration. When the footprint trail runs cold, hold Focus Mode again near the camp or the last bodies to pinpoint who is carrying it, then loot that specific target.

After you place the heart, watch the map. A gray shrine icon means it is still locked, while a blue icon confirms the repair worked and the shrine is available as a travel point. If the icon stays gray, return to the shrine and interact with it once more to finish the placement.

Clearing these repairs early pays off, since every restored shrine expands your fast travel network and shortens the walk back to quests, vendors, and storage across the map.
