The Onigiri Sprite is one of the new companions added to Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4, and it comes from the first batch of Design a Sprite contest winners. It arrived with update 42.10 on September 3, 2026, taking the release slot that the Bullet Sprite was originally going to fill. Bullet is no longer dropping this season.
Quick answer: Get the Onigiri Sprite by opening Chests and entering Cheat Codes in a match. It is a Rare Sprite, so blue Rare Cheat Codes give you the best odds, and once equipped it grants Overdrive every time you eat or drink a consumable.

What the Onigiri Sprite does
Equipping the Onigiri Sprite applies Overdrive after you eat or drink a consumable. Overdrive raises your movement speed and jump height and gives you unlimited stamina for a short window. The higher the Sprite’s level, the longer that Overdrive window lasts.
The trigger is specific. Anything your character actually eats or drinks counts, which includes healing items and food. Items you apply without eating or drinking, such as Med-Kits and Bandages, do not set off the effect.
Note: Because you have to consume something to activate it, the mobility boost is tied to your inventory. If you want a movement Sprite that fires more freely, a passive option is more convenient in a firefight.

Finding Onigiri comes down to RNG, since it can drop from any container that spawns a Sprite. There is no fixed spawn point on the map, so the goal is to open as many Sprite sources as possible.

To narrow the search, POIs worth looting include Sunken Shores, Heatwave Harbor, Green Hill Zone, Lifty Lodge, and The Battlewoods. Dropping into locations tied to the season’s Quests also lets you bank XP while you hunt.
Every Onigiri Sprite variant
There are four Onigiri variants, including the base version. All of them share the core Overdrive effect, and the special versions layer an extra bonus on top. The Cheat Master variant has its own dedicated unlock method that is not yet live.
| Variant | Bonus effect | How to get |
|---|---|---|
| Onigiri | Overdrive on consumable use | Chests, Cheat Codes |
| Cheat Master Onigiri | Base power plus all inputs correct when entering world Cheat Codes | Lobby Hack Code (not released), Chests, Cheat Codes |
| Gold Onigiri | Base power plus 3x bonus XP from eliminations | Chests, Cheat Codes |
| Loot Hacker Onigiri | Not yet detailed | Chests, Cheat Codes |
The Cheat Master Onigiri is meant to be unlocked with a Lobby Hack Code entered in the Admin Panel, but that code has not gone live yet. The Loot Hacker variant is set to release later, and more Sprites could arrive on September 17, 2026.

Leveling and mastering the Onigiri Sprite
Like most Sprites, Onigiri gains levels through Sprite XP. You earn that XP by opening containers, extracting Sprites, and eliminating other players. Each level extends the Overdrive duration, so a maxed Onigiri keeps the speed and jump boost going for noticeably longer.
It is relatively quick to Master compared with harder variants like the Crown and Klombo Sprites. If you play during a Cheat Code Day, you can push it to Level 5 much faster than usual.
Remember that a Sprite is only yours once it is banked. Carry it to an Extraction Site and hold out while the timer runs. If you are eliminated before extraction finishes, the Sprite drops for the next player to grab.

How rare is the Onigiri Sprite
Onigiri is not a hard Sprite to find. Its drop rate sits somewhere around 2%, and it is far from the rarest in the collection. With enough Chests opened and Cheat Codes entered, you should come across one without much trouble, so there is no need to rush the grind to add it to your Sprite Garden.
